Is it just me or does it appear that fewer ML baseball players are wearing cups these days? Back in the day, just about everyone wore them.

I would say 99% of infielders wear a cup. You just cant take the chance of being that close to things without wearing one.

I would bet most are wearing something like a shock doctor that has a bit of a lower profile then the old duke cups of our youth! So not as noticeable or fun to check out.

I agree with the baggy uniform theory. I think we just can't see them. However, I would think it would be mandatory. All it takes is one fly ball to the nuts and damn!

Look at Carlos Z. with the cubs; he is contantly messing with his junk - because he is doing the "scoop" of scrotem and pulliing them back in ..I hate when that happens. Carlos has a cup - trust me, a pitcher on the mound would be crazy not to.

However, when it comes to basketball, I don't think those dudes are wearing a jock or cup. I think they are all wearing those thick clinghy short things...can't think of the name.

I remember Torii Hunterr being asked if he wears a cup and he was like Naa, there's too much down there. I LOLd when I heard that.
