I just wanted to make the point that the meaning of 'curvy' will be different to everyone? When some people say curvy they mean they like what I would call a skinny girl with curves (maybe up to a size 12 Australian). When others say they like curvy girls they might be including up to a size 16 or a size 22 etc.

I think in this sense, curvy means anything that isn't stick figure. So I guess if your curves are in your butt, boobs, arms, hips, thighs, or tummy, it doesn't really matter. I guess it just means a size that doesn't show your bones. I didn't make the question specific to what type of curvy women because the point of the question is if all guys really want only the girls that are on the telly.

if you have the confidence to work with what you got, it will go a long way!

Yeah, I like my curves, but on some days, my self-esteem sucks! Women are under a lot of pressure to look a certain way!

If everyone was the same it would be pretty boring wouldn't it?
Yes, I absolutely agree. In fact, part of what I want to do through my photography is to celebrate the essence of a woman's body, regardless of body weight. I know what I like to see, but it doesn't seem to correlate with what men want to see (based on the type of models commonly used) So this thread will be an interesting revelation.

Love your body! You are beautiful. :)
Aww.. Thank you very much!

I think if we had a day to celebrate women and our awesome beauty, it would help with a lot of our self esteems, it's just what we need after what the media puts us through!
YES! I think that would be awesome. Women take such a beating for not looking a certain way, and I think it's very sad that many men are also conditioned to expect women to look that way by the media. It would be wonderful to have a day to celebrate our beauty regardless of whether we are skinny or heavy, or what men prefer. We are all beautiful in our own unique way!

I prefer "curvy" women and it appears that most who responded here do as well. This would be counterintuitive based on the image of beauty that is rammed down our throats by the major media. What is behind this attempt to so narrowly define female beauty and to define it in a way that is perhaps in direct contradiction to what most men find attractive? I believe the attraction to "curvy" women is primal and locked in our dna.

Ever since I started venturing into nude photography and using my own body as the subject for exploration, (it's always accessible, I'm a cheapskate and I'm the only one I know who would model for free ) I've become increasingly aware and embarrassed about my body weight.

Are you serious? Your body is STUNNING!!!

Oh, okay. I get it now. Less of a curvy vs skinny and more of a skinny vs non-skinny. Thanks

I'm also interested to see the results of this thread. I certainly don't have a traditionally attractive body, so I've always wondered quite what men saw in me physically. Maybe they were seeing (and liking) my curves.

Hi guys, I know I have been away for a while but once again my curiousity has brought me back.
As you can see there is a big weight issue for women, we think guys won't like us unless we are skinny and have flat tummys but I'm tired taking things from what I read on magazines, I want to address this to all the guys out there (and women if you are lesbian).

What kind of woman would you prefer in terms of appearance? A skinny woman like in the movies or a curvier woman?

Thanks :)

P.S I am not stating that one could be better than the other, all women in my opinion are beautiful!
I dont like skinny girls, a man must have some curves to put his hands on!

Interesting thread. My brother just the other day said that girls have to have curves and skinny girls do nothing for him.
My weight has fluctuated over the years and I am heavier now than normal, UK14. Last year I was a UK12. I felt better in myself but the weight has slowly crept back on.. which annoys me. However, guys never seem to notice and the only person who has given me a hard time about my shape is me.. *rolls eyes*
I have to keep reminding myself that I am in pretty good nick for my age and accept that I am no longer 21 and that on the whole my body is healthy, lets me do what I want to do and that things could be a lot worse!

why does it have to be versus?

i like both, depends on girl & her frame. no scary sick skeletor skinny though, not my cup of tea.

Unfortunately I look so much heavier than those women and every time I try out a pose or image I've been inspired to do, I get terribly conscious about the parts of my body which I think viewers might find offensively fat and pick on because I don't fit the prototype. I certainly don't want to gross people out as erotic photography should be arousing and enjoyable. The fear that I might offend a guy visually with my body has definitely held me back from sharing some of my images and trying out certain concepts. So it would be interesting to see whether men generally prefer skinny or curvy body shapes...

see, i'd classify you as skinny. not bad skinny or sick skinny. healthy-looking, but still thin.

to me this is curvy.

Curves all the way. I am a legs and butt guy so what gets me is big hips and a relativley small waist. This is weird but a girl with nice hamstrings or sorta round legs gets me everytime.

Curves. Because I have them and because they are incredibly sexy. I am not a fan of the skeleton girls. They feel like a bag of antlers. Just odd. I love my ladies built for comfort!

curvy....cece...you are about perfect....but if you were my girl i would probably fatten you up just a bit.....

in my relationships i like a girl who is soft and sqeezeable....i want to be the hard one in relationship.....from time to time i will experiment with other body tyoes but i love a girl what has a bit of meat....its also the way nature intended as its real hard for girls to be rail thin....

another thing i have noticed that in the poll and overwelming majority of guys....and pals i know like what the meadia would say is a fat chick....or overweight.........why is skinny the ideal when its clearly not a common preference?

anyone else think rachel ray is hot btw

One of the two main reasons I don't go for women - too squishy!

If I were into women, she's pretty much the kind of woman I'd go for (looks wise). Only I'd want slightly bigger boobs.

I think curves yes but in all the right places. Curvy and petite is the way to go. I have unrealistic standards for myself and that rubs off onto other women :\
