Hi all, first one from a previous lurker so pls be gentle.

I recently started dating online after a horrid time during the pandemic, and had quite a few younger guys in their late 20s or even early 30s who opened conversations by calling me "daddy", without having had any other interaction first other than a "hi" or "how you doing", which I must admit creeps me out big time.

Truth is I turned 40 not long ago but I probably look maybe 10 yrs younger and have never been addressed that way before, nor have I referred to any older guys I dated before that way. My age is displayed on the app, but I don't think my looks fit the stereotype of a "daddy" as I understand it in any way (possibly me being a bit narrow-minded here), nor do I really want to be one. I know it was meant to be sexual and a bit of fun but I just find it really "icky" for some untold reason. For submissive play I don't mind being called "boss", "master" or pretty much any other term but not "daddy".

Some of my friends seem to think I am over-thinking this and maybe having a bit of a mid-life crisis and when I google this issue most of the links that pop up seem to suggest most men love being called a "daddy".

What's everyone's take on this? Are guys like me in the minority? Should I be more open-minded about it? Doesn't matter whether you're straight or gay. Like to hear your opinion pls. Thx xx

Roll with it, embrace it. They like it, you have it, do it. The "kids" nowadays call someone "daddy" who is maybe 4 or 5 years older than them anyway.
