Ladies, I am opening this new thread here simply because I can't comment on the Dads thread.
Please know that as a dad, it is extremely heartwarming and encouraging to see daughters who have such admiration for and connections with their dads. Thank you for sharing these intimate views into what makes them special to you.
I hope and pray that my daughter thinks of me in similar ways, and continues to do so when she's grown and on her own.
(My son, too, of course, but that's another topic).

I have a feeling you make a wonderful dad because you wish to be.

My daughter has a dad and a sperm donor. Fortunately, the latter is out of her life hopefully forever. Her Dad has never had biological children, and he was very concerned about being a father figure. She wasn't too keen about having a man in the house. Three years later and there was no question who was her favorite. Mom who?

Just love. Be tough. Be aware. Be consistent. Be there.

I've always been close to my father and still very much so, however the relationship has changed a little since I've been married. He kinda let me go if you get me but we're still just as strong at the same time, he's always been there and always will be, just situations kinda change. X

Thank you, Ellie. I try. She (and my son), make it very easy to be a good dad. I'm blessed in my children.
I'm very glad to know that your daughter and her dad have a great relationship.
I love your list of "Bes."

Life may change, but the love that keeps us together is the same. That's the natural order of things as children grow and make their own lives. I'm glad you're still close.

As a mom, I’ve referred that as going from active parenting to member of the advisory committee.

Never underestimate the power of a father figure. That man shows a woman how she will relate to men for the rest of her life. Respect your girls, listen to them, and always have their back.

My father has been the pillar of my life ever since I had a conscience. He "loved me from the moment I opened my eyes and will continue to love me till his are closed". Copycat from "Troy" with a minor alteration but he couldn't help it.
I can't remember a moment when he either did or say anything to hurt me. We had our differences with both of us being so hotheaded and stubborn but that was it. Never cross for more than a day.
He moved the world to get something done for me. Anything within his ability and reach. And continues to do so.
Sadly we are away from each other and I get to see him like twice a year. Facetime does help but does not superseed a hug from him or the way he smells my hair when he does.
Brought tears to my eyes.
