That Enquirer issue also showed a pic of Barry Manilow and his hot young stud, wondered about Zac Efron and that goofball from the nerdy "Twilight" movie, and questioned Cher's sexuality. {The worst part of all this is, I actually READ the Enquirer!}...Sorry, guys!

The Enquirer has become more careful in their claims. I think it started with Tom Cruise suing folks for $100 million if they aired public claims about him being gay.

The accepted ratio is that 10% of the population is gay, at least as far as people will admit orientation, even in secret. Logic tells you that the 10% rule applies to NASCAR, CART, Indy Racing, etc.
Not sure I agree, Christiaan.
Do you think that the percentage of gays remains steadily near 10 percent whether you're talking about hairdressers, ballet dancers, playwrights, dermatologists, stevedores, pipefitters' assistants (pun opps here, I realize), NFL linemen, interior decorators, florists, car mechanics, tenors, harpsichordists, heavy metal guitarists, stationary engineers ... and whatever.

There will be gay and straight in all of those, I realize.

But I can't believe that the ratio will remain steady.

If Dale Jr is gay then I hope he lives by the dictionary meaning of the word and that is that he's "happy". It is possible he's just shy and not good with women as he says. He might just be a dedicated bachelor who gets as much pussy as he can. Whatever Dale Jr is doing he's doing a pretty good job of keeping his personal life under wraps, and I am not mad at him for it.

For some reason, I think his "career" is really dumb. I drive for a living, and see no talent in what he does.

I've driven in ice storms, snow storms, hurricanes, being chased by the police, driven 100 miles in 20 degree weather with no hear coming out of the car, cracked windshields, car running out of gas, engine on fire, through high water driven 150 miles tripping on LSD. and these are things that the whole Nascar arena would not deal with. I think they all pussies.

Dale Earnhart Jr is gay?

The National Enquirer just wants Dale to be gay because he isn't married. If Dale Earnhardt were gay and in NASCAR...he would have a much sexier pit crew, had a PRIUS as a racer, and took a few right turns once in a while on the track.

Does it really matter? The boy is a helluva driver. If he runs up his flag on a different flagpole why should we really care? His racing brings millions both dollars and people to the venues.
And as to the National Enquirer, it's just the forerunner of TMZ

No, of course you can't walk anywhere in the world, pick out 10 people and be assured you will always get 1 gay in 10. The stat is only applicable across a large population sample, You could just as well pick out 10 at random and by chance end up with 3 gays. That's why getting a viable statistical sample is an real mathmatecal science. If the statistician doesn't do it properly he screws the result.

Finding gays as auto race drivers is very probable and straights can even be found as hair dressers. I'll answer hour question, no I don't know any, but there must be some, somewhere.

It is a shame that because of the Judeo-Christian-Muslim religious cultures with their bull shit teachings about sin, being gay is a social death knell. Thank God the religious pros are here to interpret with the Almighty failed to mention!

I can't imagine the impact on E Jr. if it became known he was bi or gay. I certainly would never advise him to come out.,

Well put - I completely agree with you. The only reason I care is because I think he's cute and would date him in a heartbeat.

I think we're on more or less the same page here.
But this is what I was answering in your initial post:

The accepted ratio is that 10% of the population is gay, at least as far as people will admit orientation, even in secret. Logic tells you that the 10% rule applies to NASCAR, CART, Indy Racing, etc.
That makes it sound as though you believed that if 10 percent of the general population were gay, that would hold true even for racing.
Indeed, it might ... but I expect that whatever the ratio in the general population (and '10 percent' is only a guess), it's quite likely lower among racers.
But of course, there would be some gay racers.

If, as scientists believe, we are born with our sexual orientation, there's no reason why you couldn't have a gay or bi NASCAR driver. I've lived down south and way out in the northwest and have met gay/bi hunters, country music fans, rednecks, people who live for SEC football and guys with a Copenhagen ring in their back jeans pocket. No reason you couldn't have a gay NASCAR driver.
