That's right my right wing friends. A database of "tens of millions" of gun owners does exist. And you'll never guess who created it. Is it something Obama has been keeping secret? Is it Harry Reid getting sneaky? Pelosi using the NSA's intel gathering for a black box project? No!!!

How The NRA Built A Massive Secret Database Of Gun Owners

The NRA (yes that NRA) has compiled a massive database of gun owners, former gun owners, prospective gun owners, and who has conceal and carry permits... And they collected this information without the peoples knowledge... Yes the NRA, as in the group that has rallied their members for decades against this exact kind of database, has created the freedom killing registry.

Gun owners, let your outrage begin...

Some have characterized those of us who are in favor of gun registration and background checks as anti gun ownership. Not true. I own a few myself. What we are in favor of is a fair but responsible registration process, the same as would be expected when one gets a driver's license, applies for credit, buys a car, or a home.

The NRA has consistently opposed such legislation as violations of the "right to bear arms". Now it seems they already have everyone "on file". Interesting.

Nice try...I'd say the NRA is interested in data to promote membership and to detail accurate info. on gun ownership to promote second amendment rights. Every company gathers information and I'm sure they're no different...Now if you want to talk about the NSA? That's an issue...When you have a gov't agency using it's nearly limitless power to promote an agenda, that's scandalous...The NRA turning on it's members...That's a stretch...
I think most "right leaning members" recognize that you're baiting and they're ignoring you...

This is not a membership list. It is a database of information gathered from “gun permit registration lists from state and county offices, gathering names of new owners from the thousands of gun-safety classes taught by NRA-certified instructors and by buying lists of attendees of gun shows, subscribers to gun magazines, and more,”

Here is some more on this...

NRA keeps database of gun owners and potential members: Report

NRA Built Massive Database of Gun Owners | Drudge Retort

...please atleast attempt to read them

You are bating, and this is a non-issue. Show me in any of those articles where the NRA maintains a database of who has how many of what weapon/ammo/accessory by serial number. They don't.

They use their funds to buy lists to identify possible future dues paying members. I've gotten NRA membership pamplets just for reading Blue Press which automatically accompanies certian types of online transactions. I also get letters periodically which detail possible changes in legislation affecting my area of residence and what to do if I disagree with said changes.

It's targeted advertising, nothing more...and it is damned effective. The President's campaign mastered the strategy. What it is not is a database of gun owners run by a government agency.

^Oh....well that's DIFFERENT then. So they BUY our personal information from retailers, names address etc., without our knowledge or consent, so they can in turn sell us MEMBERSHIPS.

Swell.

Again.......I just don't care.
it means nothing .
Nothing different than what countless other companies & organizations have done for many, many years
It's not going to have any impact on anything..

So its acceptable for private companies/organization to compile and put out information about you without your knowledge but not ok for the government? I fail to see the difference.

Hell, its only the good ol' NRA!
How could such a family friendly, upstanding organization use a national list of registered gun owners for nefarious purposes???
We can only watch and see!
It's not like they can sell their carefully collected and compiled information to literally ANYONE, for money, including criminals, could they?

And there are others that have that same list bardox, like local police have that same list. From hunters safety to buying a firearm and ammo everything is signed for and you seem to want to get people excited over them having a list of that, haha you must be young and dumb. thats not an outrage, the outrage is knowing there are idiots like you out there that dont see the difference from a co. wanting to make some money, get more members, to what a government can do with the info they are gathering on you and me. In time you and i will see the effects of this and if you think its b.s. well, your in for a surprise, then you will be outraged and we already knew it was coming so ... . haha good luck.

What about the concerns that Lapierre had, that if a list were allowed to exist, of it being hacked and used against gun owners? Does he somehow believe that only the list in his possession is 100% safe?

“A background check. A check that will always be far from universal, will never make our schools or streets safer, and will only serve as universal registration of lawful gun owners—the real goal they’ve been pushing for decade …. Their check only includes good, law-abiding people like you and me. That’s what they’re after—the names of good, decent people who happen to own a firearm to go into a federal database for universal registration of every lawful gun owner in America … What’s the point of registering lawful gun owners anyway? So newspapers can print those names and addresses for criminals and gangs to access? So that list can be hacked by foreign entities like the Chinese, who recently hacked Pentagon computers? So that list can be handed over to the Mexican government that, oh by the way, has already requested it. In the end, there are only two reasons for government to create that federal registry of gun owners—to tax them and to take them.”

Lapierre is an overage dick measuring wanna be tough guy joke. He would probably shit on his self and blow his foot off in the process if confronted by a ruthless assailant or little old lady with mace.

The NRA stopped being a responsible or relevant entity ages ago.
