There is no relationship anyone is in that can't be ended. No matter the reason.

Period.

I felt that way before my divorce, then realized that I *HAD* to get out of it to protect myself. It was hard - VERY hard - but I did.

I was married to my first wife for 9 years. Had two kids with her. But realized after about 7 years she and i were not on the same page in any way, shape or form. It was hard but i knew that that relationship was on a crash course for a brick wall. It might seem hopeless at first but trust me..it gets a lot better and it beats sitting around getting more depressed.

I agree with the others, there is absolutely nothing that should be keeping you in a dead relationship. That dead relationship will NEVER get better and it will only keep you depressed and feeling hopeless. When you leave, it might not be easy at first but it will get better.

Good Luck!

I, too, agree with the others here. If you truly feel that your relationship is DEAD, then do yourself, the other party and any children a favour... and move on. If there is constant fighting, it will upset all involved.

Years ago, I met a handsome older British petty aristocrat, who told me in great detail how is marriage was "over"; however, he and his wife did not separate. Instead, they just "did their own thing - discreetly of course".

When I asked him the reason why he and his wife did not separate, and, move on, he said, almost obnoxiously, "Well, that is precisely what you Yanks do. Besides, as divorced people, we would be excluded from the royal enclosure at Ascot.".

I rolled my eyes, stood, and, left without saying a word.

Jesus they sound like some pricks off of Downton Abbey. Also Clare Balding’s nan (which I’m guessing you don’t know, basically a presenter in the UK)

Yes, that moron represented any and everything that is wrong with the British upper classes. While it is not my country, I do think that Great Britain would be better off as a republic, one in which all noble titles have been abolished.

One of its princesses with the bug eyes recently married an Italian. The 'royal watcher', who reported this was sure to note that he was a count in Italy, but 'did not use his title in the UK. The cow should have done her homework: Italy abolished its monarchy and all noble titles at the end of the second world war.

Tbf the nobles titles mean jack shit these days they don’t have much power anymore. But yeh I think many would be fine without it at this Point

I can’t stand the “royal correspondent” and other bollocks it’s all just blagging on about how great they are with little substance. I could go in further but I gotta go to gym now so I’ll just finish this off later

Not "too late", just not quite the right time, yet. My relationship has been over for some time and the lockdown did not help to improve anything. We're not fighting as such, just have different views on anything. The only reason, and to me it is a reason, is that we have a dog, who is now old and ill. If her treatment works, we might have her for another year max, if not, then less. This is not the time for me to move out because I am attached to her (so is my ex).
However, I will be sorting out stuff, getting rid of things I don't need anymore so when the time comes I can move out. Of the two of us, I am in the weaker financial position. I am not scared but I know it will not be easy, either. But it will be possible.

What is your story @travis7 ? :)
