Hi, guys. Just wanted to report the death of my Mom. Most of you didn't know her.

She died Saturday night, quite unexpectedly and without warning. She and my Dad had just returned from a nice dinner. She was getting ready for bed, had a hanger in her hand to return her dress to the closet, when she fell to the floor without a sound. My dad discovered her body the next morning, when he thought things were unnaturally quiet, and noticed the papers had not been brought in.

She left no life untouched, and no one had ever had a bad word to say about her. I look to her example of a life well lived.

I rejoice in her release from 30 or more years of pain from osteoarthritis, and am sorry only that I will not get to enjoy her company for a long time to come.

(I was going to append a photo, but the smallest I could compress a JPEG was still too big for this site. Oh, well...

    Very sorry about that, Art.

I've been through this, and I know it takes a long time to heal.

But it sounds like you really cared about her, so you can say you really had a mother.

Take care of your dad, for both of your sakes.

    Best,

    Art,
My sincere and deepest sympathies. Is an unexpected death of a family member harder than a long anticipated one? I don't think anything prepares us for this. This must be very hard for you.

    Peace of Christ,
    JustAsking

I am sorry to hear of your loss.

The Chinese believe that one of the five felicities is a good ending to one's life. From what you have written, it would appear your mother passed on switftly, and I hope that thought might bring you some comfort.

sorry to hear of your loss. I know how much it hurts
My father passed in December and someone sent this to me. It has helped alot when I think about it.

Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there, I do not sleep
I am a thousand winds that blow
I am the diamonds glint on snow
I am the gentle Autumns rain

    When you awaken
    in the mornings hush
I am the swift uprising rush
of quiet birds in circled flight
I am the soft star that shines
    at night.

Do not stand at my grave and cry
I am not there, I did not die

Its amazing how many times since then I have noticed just one star shining down on me at nights when I needed it the most

    Art,

I am so sorry. I know that this was difficult to happen so suddenly. I have seen the old go thorugh great pain and suffering over months in the dying process. For her, it was a blessiing to die suddenly without warning. For your Dad and the rest of the family it is a sudden shock that is difficult to bear.

No easy way to face death. My mother is beginning to fail. As hard as it will be to find her gone suddenly, I hope she will be blessed and not have to undergo months of intense pain in the dying process.

I know it will take time to get over this shock.

    Freddie

    Hi Art,
I'm very sorry to hear about the loss of your Mum. You are not alone. My Dad died yesterday, quite peacefully, after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease.
It's at times like these when we need our family and friends around us. My wife is on her way home from work at the moment so I'm fixing us (her, our 14yo son, myself) a meal. We'll raise a glass to my Dad. I'll toast your Mum too. There's plenty of love to go round.
    All the best
