gays and lesbians were granted the right to marry in Ca last May by our Republican Supreme Court. Yes, the judges who ruled in favor, by 5-4 are Republicans (with one exception). Connecticut has just joined us.
prop 8 would take away our right to marry by adding an amendment to the California state constitution making it illegal.
America must NOT be about taking away civil rights;
California must vote no on 8 to preserve gay/lesbian marriage.
the ads for yes on prop 8 are as ugly as they are pathetic.
tell your rriends, family and associates to vote no on prop 8 to support
the right of all consenting adults to marry the person of their choice, not the Mormons' choice or the Catholics' choice.

Where is the support from prop 8 coming from? It doesn't make any sense to me. CA has more educated than non-educated voters. Are there any demographical studies that show the breakdown and drivers?

Is it just the the anti-gay groups have better funding, better ads, and are pushing the right emotional buttons? Are the equal marriage advocates too weak, too unfocused? Are they inept at making a compelling, simple, quick case?

Much support is coming from out-of-state, ultra right wing fundamentalist religious groups.

They've succeeded in passing Amendments in 17 states so far and now this!

The vote yes ads are some of the dumbest political ads I have ever seen.

YouTube - Proposition 8 Ad-YES on 8

Oh, no they will teach kids gay marriage our civilization is doomed.[sarcasm]

If this passes it would show how dumb are state is.
I also find it funny they say they will teach kid gay marriage and not teach kids about gay marriage.

I made an account (because I can't remember my password for my old one, and apparently it doesn't have my not dead email address.) to make comments on this video. They are pending though, apparently. I'd vote no if I were in California.

Edit: I didn't realize this at first, but she censors all comments.

In my neighborhood there are nothing but yes on prop 8 signs. Not that there are many of them, but there are none of the No on 8 signs.
I was thinking of painting over the yes.

Also I was at a party where kids had chalked no on 8 up and down the street, and one (straight) kid went outside and was harrassed about the no on 8 chalk. The guy ended up head butting him to the point that he had a bad lump. It was too dark to tell if he was bloody, but he was certainly in pain.

I kind of want to put a no on 8 sticker on my car...but am afraid because of the homophobic environment around here. In southern california.

The dark side of SoCal is the heavy white supremacy anti gay sentiments that exist in the suburbs among the working class.

California has a reputation as being Hippie Central, but only Los Angeles and the San Francisco bay area are really liberal. Much of the rest of the state (including my part) is fairly conservative. It's kind of like assuming that Louisiana is left-wing because New Orleans is part of it.

whats even more sickening are the people's comments under the videos. read them. and be disgusted.

"Yes on Prop8. Love the sinner, but not the sin. God commanded us to multiply, ya can't do that when your in a gay marriage. Save our children and our country Yes on Prop 8!"

so gay couples are now hunting down the children of the world? the children that hetero couples have, and will continue to have, need to be saved from not being born because of gay couples? that makes absolutely no sense. its simple. just have your kids and shut the hell up. jeez...

"Yes on Prop 8. You can love the sinner, but not the sin. Can you imagin if everyone was gay... where would our beautiful children come from? Its unnatural and God condems it."

*shakes head....* people are really this stupid... REALLY?!?!?

Yes.

I tried to make a comment about how they are using the word will, as if it were can. And how they only reason your child would marry someone of the same sex is because they are GAY, not because they can get married to someone of the same sex. But I guess they haven't, or didn't let it through (assuming she's looked at it yet.)

Where the hell are you? The Neo-Nazis haven't been seen this side of LA for a long time now (probably because the ones that do show their faces get stomped or killed).

My favorite line from the horrendous commercial series in favor of this prop: "It is no longer about tolerance. You will be forced to accept gay marriage."

Wuh-wuh-wuh-whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?

And then they have some douchebag "professor" from Pepperdine telling us how they're going to *gasp* teach our children about gay marriage in school. What's next? Teaching them that black people are the same species as the rest of us? That everyone can use the same water fountain?

I wish these out-of-state pederasts would keep their anti-gay bullshit out of our state.
