I've been checking out some dating sites recently and it was funny to see how many women seek a "real man"!
It usually seems to be women over 25 who require this, the younger ladies seem to be waiting for their knight in shining armour.

Could it be that when they were around 25 years old, those older women actually found their knight, only to find that he was a wimp?

What is your idea of a "real man"?

Interesting. I had a chat with a friend about this last night.

I'm sure to many, a real man is a guy who is masculine, physically strong, confident, drinks his beer, has a pudgy belly, a hairy back, hardly ever looks in the mirror, can fix any car, loves watching sports, is heterosexual, etc.

To me, a real man is any male who is decent, honest, hard-working, humble, stoic, and most of all, loyal. Size, fitness, orientation, athleticism have nothing to do with being a 'real man', although I'm sure that many of the women on that site are looking for big, strong macho men.

I love when I read that, too. First of all, everyone's definition of a "real man" is subjective, right? It's all based on what they want. It's an easy way out of actually SAYING what they want because no one actually knows what the want and/or need.

My idea of a real man is someone who's loyal, and not afraid to cry when they're upset, and not afraid to hold me when I'M upset.

He's someone strong enough to swallow his pride when he needs to, and can walk away when things are getting too intense. (I'm italian, he'll have to...lol.) He tries to be the bigger person, he's passionate, INTELLIGENT, and trusting. Most of all, I just want to feel comfortable. The word "comfort" would really define my ideal man for me, at least emotionally.

Big strong macho man, not for me either. My sweetie wouldn't win physical fitness championships (unless it involves a guitar pick) but he is real enough man for me. Remember, if you wait for your white knight you're still going to have to clean up after his horse.

A real man, much like the phoenix, unicorn and griffin, is a myth.

Never, ever reply to an ad with these phrases:

    I want a REAL MAN
    I don't want any drama!
will accept me for who I am, and not what I look like
curves in all the right places
    & of course
cool with a chick who is HSV+

There are no absolutes with human beings. If women, gay men, or bisexuals are looking for real men (that will) have (whatever attributes you desire) you may as well give up. Dating or looking for a mate, the interviews and application process are substantiative.

Expect no superheroes or martyrs. Real men, like REAL women, have their own ideals...personalities...dreams...so I think that it is all WHAT YOU SEE IS WHAT YOU GET...and IF YOU WANT EXTRA...meet other people to fulfill that void you are lacking. Every person should tell you what is in their operation manual as far as what they like and dislike. And because a person is more in your dislike doesn't mean they aren't real men or real women. They are still men. They are still women. They aren't affinite to your liking.

    I thought a real man had a Y chromosome.

Too bad the ads asking for "real men" don't provide a subjective definition thereof.

Do you have photographic evidence that we can inspect?

That just might get you laid.

Having a Y chromosome doesn't make you a man, google deadbeat dads for examples.

I think any man who takes responsibility for his actions and takes care of his family is a real man.

I usually trust my first 5 senses to know if he's real and the 6th to guess whether he's a man or not.
