New York Democratic Senator Charles Schumer supported stripping Flu Pandemic Preparedness from the Stimulus.

    - NY Post

probably because the Stimulus was to stimulate the economy and that type of funding while important, did not belong in the Stimulus Bill.

    exactly my point -

I posted it like that because IndustrialSize's thread is both misleading and incomplete.

There's something about the way that NY Post article was worded that makes me uneasy...

There's also something unsettling about anyone that would use the NY Post as a paper of any real political credibility. Even most New Yorkers don't do that.

Chuck Schumer has proven time and time again to be a fucking asshole and smiling dickhead. When he smiles... WATCH OUT! We should purge him from the Democratic party... he's fucking worthless.

If this really is a big deal, why are we not screening all passengers coming from Mexico? Or is that racist?

Stripping the medical emergency funds from the stimulus bill was a condition laid down by Sen. Collins to persuade her to vote for it. Sen. Shumer was the agent for the compromise to get her vote. Both parties were hand-inhand on this: both parties should rocket a bill through to get those funds flowing now.

I don't care who stripped it. It was rightly pulled. The stimulus bill was about stimulating the economy not disaster preparedness or saving lives. Thus it was the right call, by whomever did it.

It was pulled on Republicans request, but put into a later appropriations bill (I don't have the number off the top of my head). The explanation of why it would be in a stimulus bill was that any sort of pandemic would further stifle the economy and create additional problems.

    Regardless who stripped it...

a> the resulting supplies from the monies allocated would still be months off
b> we are at 235 cases out of 5 billion ppl... pandemic?

    Slow newsweek.
