It's still pretty early in this process, but anyone wanna start talking about (potential) candidates?

I've been waxing about Beto O'Rourke a lot, but Amy Klobuchar also looks interesting (more moderate Democratic senator from Minnesota who just won her re-election in a swing state 60% to 36% and has a reputation for being able to work across the aisle to get legislation passed (she's was the #1 ranked Senator in the entire senate for 2016 at getting bills she sponsored or co-sponsored signed into law).

She's another senator that likes being a senator though and hasn't announced a candidacy yet (she's mulling the idea over).

the name alone carries political pedigree that would actually stand a chance against the trump dynasty. there are a few but im not going to suggest theyre even running. Im just saying that they would have a chance with the mere name

dynasty- a succession of people from the same family who play a prominent role in business, politics, or another field.

Yeah it has to be a succession of people. He is the only person in his family be a politician, so they can't be a dynasty in a political sense. In a real estate sense, yeah, but politically? No way.

his daughter and husband are working in the white house but thats besides the point. i was summing up that the "trump" name can be beaten by another big name. Thats my theory anyway. I cant see any up and comer taking down trump in 2020 it would have to be an already known name or person

I was pretty impressed with Joe Kennedy's State of the Union rebuttal. However, people seemed to be far more interested in how much chap stick he was wearing than the words he was saying so he became the butt of a lot of jokes. It's too bad that something as trivial as that can absolutely ruin an attempt to run for president, not that I've even heard he has plans to do so.

I have said it before and will keep saying it

Jerry Brown

Successful 2 term Governor of California twice over.

Attorney General

Mayor of Oakland

Pope Francis a fellow Jesuit seminarian likes him

Might be older than Trump but looks way younger, acts way younger, does not look like he will drop over dead any second. Is a man who embraces the future instead of longing for an idyllic 50's America that on balance never existed other than on TV

Can get the Eagles to play on the mall for the inauguration

He has very little chance of being taken seriously, but AOC wasn't taken seriously at first either. She won.

So, I'm just kinda interested in this Richard Ojeda. I'm not saying I'm *for* him, I just think he's an interesting candidate and I like a lot of what he says.

He voted for Trump. That rules him out in my book. Anyone that willingly voted for him clearly isn't playing with a full deck.

Ok. I think it's more complicated than that. I understand why you take that position, but I don't think the majority of voters agree. And, like I said... I'm not saying I'm for him. I just think he's an interesting candidate.

I know several people who voted for Trump. Some who loved everything about him (fuck them) and some who were just under/misinformed. In my book, someone who is willing to admit that they may have made a mistake (which Trump never does) deserves to be heard out. Ojeda has admitted that his vote for Trump was a mistake.
