life is better now then it was back in The great depression.
my dad grow up in the great depression my dad only spent money only when he had to.

this is nothing like the The great depression.
But the big event hasnt happened yet. teeny tiny problem of unpayable national debt? You doknow that in between discussing the european debt crisis over here, people from time to time talk about how the US is going to pay its own debts?

Silly me.....I thought they voted for the Affordable Care Act in order to decrease the amount of uninsured people in the USA.

Any cursory examination of history should throw the motives of Congress into doubt. Do you know the details of NDAA? Do you like the (sic) Patriot Act?
These people are not for us. How about lifetime retirement and a gold-plated health plan (which we can't access at any price) after just one term in office? How about acting on inside information, passing laws and regulations to enrich themselves, while ordinary people get thrown into cages for doing acting on stock tips from the wrong source? How many treaties with Native Americans have been broken? And people get worked up about folks flying the Confederate battle flag, ignoring the fact that slavery was a government sanctioned institution, existing under the United States flag for over eight decades. How many innocent civilians overseas have been killed in drone attacks in our name without the Congress taking Pres. O'bomb'ya to task for violating the War Powers Act, let alone neglecting to actually declare war on anyone?
But then, perhaps our congress-critters are too busy worrying about steroid usage in Major League Baseball concern themselves with more trivial matters.

So yeah, if someone thinks that Congress passed the (sic) Affordable Care Act to benefit anyone but themselves and their corporate cronies, I'd say they're pretty damn silly.

There isn't a national poll on the planet showing Romney beating Obama. And the more the public knows about the 'corporations are people' candidate the better Obama looks. Of course for a certain segment Obama will never 'look' good.

I think most of America is afraid to vote republican now. They may not be happy with Obama..but the alternatives are sooo not gonna happen. The republican party destroyed itself over the past few years. Thank the Tea Party and religous extremists/haters for that.

I am thinking that the Democrats will win the Congress and Obama will win again. I am not saying that because that is what I want to happen but because I am thinking that the Republican Candidates are not appealing to the majority of US Citizens. I know many Republicans who are disgusted by their options for President. I know a life long Republican who said that he will be abstaining from voting, because he refuses to vote for Obama but also refuses to vote to put our nation in worse shape. I think it is now fairly well known that the role of the Republican Congress was to stop any action the President can do. It is not fair and resulted in shut downs, downgrades and a 13% approval rating for congress. I think the TEA Party Congressmen need to dust off their resumes.

Now... I do live in a very liberal city with 87% voting for Obama in the last election, in a very liberal state that Obama won with 63% of the votes so I could only be hearing one side of the story and there are a lot of other states out there that may feel differently!

If Obama does not win, and congress remains republican, and the state I live in passes a gay marriage ban, not only will I move from my state but I will also leave the country. The joy of having dual citizenship (thanks to my legally immigrated parents!). I feel this strongly because it will create second class citizens and the country will only be supportive of the wealthy, white, christian, and straight. I am not wealthy, not white, not christian and not straight.

Agree or disagree, I am entitled to my opinion and note I did not call out any other posters negatively.

That's correct, but right now the Repub vote is split between three or four candidates. On election day, a lot of these folks are going to back their candidate. I say three or four because I think Ron Paul has more support from independents and disgruntled Dems than from Repubs. You know, Republicrats and Demopublicans. Ain't a dimes worth of difference between 'em when they get into office.

I still say, get the government out of the marriage business. Let folks marry that want to, as long as they're consenting adults. The company I work for just last year conferred benefit priveleges on domestic partners. I say hurray, let's hope its the wave of the future.

Our new President just won the Florida Republican primary.

...................and let's see --- the "anti" Romney vote outnumbered the total votes he received. Looks like they're pretty "psyched" up about Romney!! Come November -- it's gonna be a slaughter. The "Average" Joe American just isn't going to be able to relate to "Mr. $52,000 per day" man!

Uhhh yea there is. We would not have had the runinous Bush tax cuts and his $3 trillion war. Ohh and the financial collapse to boot thanks to Republican/libertarian Ayn Rand lover Alan Greenspan.

Let's not forget the ruins of the economy which came along with those Clinton era men, Geithner and Summers who most say crafted what became the downfall of the stockmarket. Regarding Greenspan, yes Bush the first brought him in, but Clinton kept him for 8 years. The current Fed. Reserve chair is Bernanke who while brought in by George the second, is still in there under Obama and during the time that the liberals and democrats claim things are getting so much better which means real credit is to be given to George W. Bush who had the ability to sense the man's greatness and bring him in.

War? Oh yeah that's right. Faulty information passed on by the Clinton intelligence people to George the second and even if there wasn't there was that nasty September 11 thing that happened. Are you delusional enough to believe that Al Gore if he had not been the victim of hanging chads in Florida would have just sat around and done absolutely nothing after that day? Even Clinton fought back when Al Quaida attacked things during his time in office.

I could see Ron Paul running as an independent this year, which would probably act like the Perot effect in the 90s and guarantee Obama a second term, even if he didn't get 50% of the vote. But I'm not sure how that would effect the House and Senate races, or if it would at all. Redistricting will have a lot to do with that, and in some states they STILL haven't finished drawing their maps.

Of course it could be a short lived victory since she has to run again this year to maintain the seat that she got in the special election to replace David Wu.

After Bonamici victory, Oregon GOP wonders if 1st Congressional District is out of party's reach | OregonLive.com
"She has to run again this year to win a full two-year term that starts next January."

Wu by the way was also a Democrat before scandal forced him out, so this isn't the biggest victory as this was already a district which had been Democrat for a while. Prior to Wu being elected in 1998 the seat was held by Elizabeth Furse who was also Democrat and had first been elected in 1992.

Before that was the 1974 election, January 1975 swearing in of Democrat (Walter) Les AuCoin, also a Democrat.

So winning in an already Democratic district really isn't that great victory which you are trying to turn it into. It was a Republican district from its inception in the early 1890s up until AuCoin won and hasn't had a Republican since in 37 years.

Uhhhhhhhhhh, no there's not. The dems and repubs renewed the (sic) patriot act. They both passed indefinite military detention for US citizens in the NDAAf in the dem-controlled senate by a 93-7 (!) margin. They both love multi-trillion $ deficits and foreign military intervention: the Vietnam war was started by dems, and ended by a (villianous) repub.
Ohhhh, shall I go on?

Sure, why not. Bush 44, uh, 'scuse me, O'bomb'ya put tax cheat Geithner in charge of the treasury dept. (and therefore the IRS) and got more campaign contributions from big wall street firms than his repub rival, continued the Bushy bailouts, and continues to kill innocent civilians in drone attacks, including extra-judicial executions of US citizens. And no, I'm not a repub.
