i dont know, i think im kind of sick of the media depiction of homosexuals.. and more so the influence it has on gay folks trying to find themselves in a predominantly straight world.. there's plenty of gay guys who don't prance around more femenin than a girly girl (girly girls get on my nerves too, so its not a gender thing). the whole stereotype "gay" voice thing gets on my nerves. haven't met many gays that talked like that

and there's plenty of lesbians who aren't all trying to act and look macho etc.. again real macho guys get on my nerves as well.. i think i'm saying i hate stereotypes.. and to many people, straight or gay try and conform to what society/the media depicts them as.. i really cant stand the depiction of virgins in our culture, especially since i didn't lose mine till i was 23.

iv known plenty of gay, lesbian, and bi folks who you would have NO freaking idea they weren't straight unless you were talking about relationships, sex, or asked them on a date or something. yeah they may participate in marches, and other LGBTQ events, but day to day. they're just their own cool themselves.

One thing I don't really like in gay porn is the idea of hiring straight men to perform gay sex in gay porn. It pisses me off. I am thinking: "why is this mthrfckr in this film? he really isn't into this guy." What is wrong with hiring gay men?

Man, I grew up with straight men hating me for the fact that I am gay. And now it is supposed to be acceptable  to have straight men getting paid a LOT of money for gay sex?
What is so fucking special about some straight guy fucking a guy? I don't get the allure.
Why aren't there gay men fucking in straight films? Can we get a lot of money to fuck Jenna Jameson or Hanna Hilton? Hello...?

Your opinion counts as much as mine does, so accept that my experience of life is as valid as yours is. I have not barged in, this is a public forum and by the nature of your comments and observations you were (correct me if I am wrong) inviting opinions. I believe the veracity of your experiences.

What I am trying to impart is that we all have our crosses to bear, and we should try to cope with them. Legislators cannot subject human nature to behave as it should. I don't mean: shut up and be a wiling victim. I don't mean pussillanimously accepting unacceptable behaviour from others. I think you may have inadvertently misinterpreted part of what I put forward. Maybe I didn't articulate my stance very well. Being hurt is part of life, reacting in an exclusive political way is, I feel, not the way.

And what I say about tv and film producers, they use people to catch attention and sell a product. Not very noble.

Matt I was going to say pretty much the same thing you did here below. You said it well. I totally agree.

Excellent post, fuzzyken!

I am aware of the source material for the movies I mentioned above. I'm not against those movies' viewpoints per se (as you said it shows bigotry for what it is) and I think very highly of the films I put in my list. What I would like are more movies with a positive outcome for the gay protagonist, not just another tragic drama. The movies you have mentioned are ones that I'm familiar with, but some of those I have not seen and will want to check out.

It also bugs me a bit when I hear praise for a straight actor for being "so brave" in playing a gay role. Heh, if you think that's brave try being an openly gay person in real life!

Or a closeted one too!

Although I remember the depression of a closeted life, it still felt safer to not be openly gay. I think that to be honest with oneself to others takes more courage.
