deputy pushes man of wheelchair - AOL Video

(I hope she goes to jail for this.)

In Hillsborough County, Florida, police were caught, by their own surveillance cameras, dumping a quadriplegic man from his wheelchair and onto the ground. Apparently they were trying to determine whether or not he actually needed the chair.

Ambulance-chasing attorneys all over the USA are warming up their business cards right now, drooling over the prospect of representing that kid in the wheelchair.

As well they should be. This is just terrible, and anything that calls greater attention to the injustice done to the guy in the wheelchair (and stops its repetition) needs to be applauded.

    Ugh.
    I'm so embarrassed by this.

It happened in a neighboring county from me, just a hop and a skip away.

According to local news, she and her supervisors are being appropriately punished.

This is insane! There are others ways of determining quadriplegia. Heck, it would have been nicer to just kick him in the leg.

The people were probably trying to out a faker, but used the wrong methods. Hard tactics can get you places, but that place is usually trouble.

Kicking someone in the leg is dumb as well.

Any of the quads I've met would gladly get up and walk--if they could.

Sorry, I wasn't trying to say that kicking him in the leg was a good idea...it was a joke pertaining to their extreme methods of trying to reveal a fake.

The sheriff made good on his statement and fired the idiots and it sounds like the county is also going to bring charges against the four.

Just looking at that video made me want to smack the crap out of the cop.

The funny thing is from far away in the video I could tell that he had no muscle strength in his arms. They look like chicken wings with skin hanging off of them.

That's good to hear. It was shown on the News down here as well. As someone whose mother works in a halfway house caring for disabled adults, I find it appalling.

    Yonkers.

Another reason for my, absolute disrespect, for authority figures.

You forgot the quotes around authority.

It even made me angrier that all the idiots involved were black. They are probably the type to play the race card at every turn too.

In fairness to the deputy, I understand that the guy was arrested for failing to pay speeding fines. If he can drive then I can understand why she thought he might be faking his condition. Nonetheless, she not the judiciary.

I really don't know what defines a quadriplegic, but I sure don't know any who can drive.

In fairness to decency it was not her call to make. What if there was a mistake in identifying him or if he had the same name as someone else.

If she caught him driving then he is not a quadriplegic, but I do not know that to be the case.

That was my point. She's an executive officer, not part of the judiciary. She was making a judgement that should have been reserved for the courts... and she did it in a fairly rough manner.
