Happy Kentucky Derby Day to EVERYONE! Anyone with plans for seersucker, mint juleps, and or watching the ponies? If so post picks of you and your cock celebrating this great day. (I feel sad for the short little people that ride those horses)
Yep, I got the derby on TV as I type... dem ponies is gonna be slippin and slidin all over the place today!!! That is one WET track...
I hear the Queen visited there when she was in the States w/Bush a few years ago? (And it's pronounced dArby. Grrr, lol).
j_marose - you beat me to this post! i am enjoying the pre-race coverage and if i had bet on the woodford reserve turf race a little bit ago, i would have won. i LOVE the derby. grew up with horses and racing and polo so i love it. sad i am not at a socialite-y party this year, but being able to watch it with cocktails at home is okay too.
I hear you. No fancy party here either. Thinking about getting tickets for the infield next year. If so I'll have some nice seer sucker to sport then! Have to work later or would be sucking on a mint julep right now. Have a great day and cheer on those horses.
i had to laugh watching the the crowds int he stands, the infield fans - its like nascar, but with horses and well dressed people. lol!
OKAY - i will call "Stately Victor" to win. Beautiful horse. although it the camera work was HORRIBLE to see the horses coming out of the paddocks. : / Line of David or Sidney's Candy. let's see how it goes...
It was allot of fun, despite the erratic weather all week that jacked up the pre-race events. (As I type this, yet another thunderstorm is kicking up ) I did not go to the track for Derby, I went to the Oaks (day before) and it was an amazingly nice day....record attendance...and walked with a couple hundred more than I brought. Back in the day...the Infield was a total free-for-all...complete with drunken "show me your ________" <for both genders>. Over the past few years, they have downsized the infield viewing area to about a third of the size and, in the name of 'security', put an end to the debauchery. It is still a good time and, like Mardi Gras in NOLA, is something everyone should put on their Bucket List.
