Give me a cock any day. (Sorry. Couldn't resist).

Dick is a man's name. It sounds derogatory. It sounds small and utilitarian, not at all sexy.

Cock sounds big, powerful and awe-inspiring. The way cocks were meant to be.

Well articulated.

Dick is what teenage boys call each other.

When I'm standing over my lover my erection laying across her face, it's a cock.

I love dirty talk and cock is the right word for me.

When I was growing up in the 60's, as a young teen the word cock meant female's vagina. Somewhere in my high school days, cock became a name for either male or female. By college the word cock only referred to males.

I grew up in a small town. That may have been a pecularity for that small area as I never heard cock refering to gals after I grew up and went to college.

I find it interesting that some people say "dick" sounds dated and some people say "cock" sounds dated. Some people report that they grew up saying "dick" but now hear "cock" more often, some people report the opposite. I think that we are losing sight of the most important point, made in the "Not Noel Coward Song":

Isn't it awfully nice to have a penis?
Isn't it frightfully good to have a dong?
It's swell to have a stiffy,
It's divine to own a dick,
From the tiniest little tadger,
To the world's biggest prick.
So three cheers for your willy or John Thomas!
Hooray for your one-eyed trouser snake!
Your piece of pork,
Your wife's best friend,
Your Percy or your cock.
You can wrap it up in ribbons,
You can slip it in your sock.
But don't take it out in public
Or they'll stick you in the dock,
And you won't -- come -- back.

Always liked WANG has a bouncy erect "boinnnnng" quality to it.

Widgey between my gay friends,

Cock to the husband, "Suck my...." "gimme that big....." "swallow that......"

As a teen it was always knob... which isn't very good, neither descriptive or arousing!

Depends on what I'm doing and who I'm with when I say it. In the middle of sex, I say cock... but when talking casually with friends, I normally say penis. I don't say dick much at all, unless I'm using it to call someone a name.

Hmm, same here. 'Dick' just seems to roll off my tongue weird. I think the preference of one word over another may be age and location based more than anything.

"Penis" in casual conversation.

"Cock" in the heat of things.

"Dick" is what you call jerky people.

Well ... if you must know, I called him ... Thor. I will await for the arrival of my next god and name him once he is known to me. =o)
Oh, that's all right then: you just prefer to use a proper noun rather than a common noun! :biggrin1:

I'm mid-30's. I do not recall growing up anyone using the term "cock". It was always "dick". But it seems in forums like this that "cock" is now more common than "dick".

Which slang term do you use/prefer and why?

They obviously all mean the same thing. I'm older than you and when I was growing up prick was the most popular. Later on I began to hear cock and dick. It seems like all I hear now is dick. Maybe it depends on where you live and what the current slang word is.
