It was a mixed year, both good and bad. I made a hell of a lot of money, but that was cancelled out by the fact that my other half was made redundant and took over five months to find another job. Then we lost most most of what we owned in a break-in. Some of the less valuable stuff was later found in a field 50 miles away along with various bits of paperwork. After taking photographs, the farmer burned everything but the paperwork, which he then gave to the local council so they could fine me for fly-tipping! Talk about adding insult to injury! I hope he had a good Christmas(!)

Anyway, here's hoping that 2010 is better all round for everybody.

I had an awesome year in 2009. I finally got college started with, helped win an election (R-71 here in Washington) that meant a lot to me, and got married -- for health benefits, not because I knocked her up. Nobody died in my life (although Luanne from KotH almost counts.) I hate to admit it since it was terrible for my nation and world, but it was great year for me.

My year was BAD, in all caps! Fortunately, I didn't lose too much of my retirement savings, what little is in there in the first place, because I'm a real play-it-safe type when it comes to saving/investing like that. But the really bad stuff started in December 2008, when my mom passed away, and the very next day I got a letter from the unemployment saying I had to pay back over $1,000 because one place I worked for ONE DAY had raised a stink about me supposedly not calling back in time to request another assignment (it was a temp agency. I thought I did call back in time. And with my mom's death at the same time, I simply didn't have the emotional strength to fight it, so I just had to pay it.) In 2009 I was unemployed some of the time, but employed for most of the year at various temp jobs (I had 5 different jobs in 2009! But then, I had 5 different jobs in 2008 as well. All temp jobs then, too, except one that clashed with another job and they took me off the payroll and said I'd have to re-apply if I wanted to be rehired there.)

2009 ended a tiny bit better though. I had a job with a second job about to begin (probably start that for real tomorrow - they're really disorganized about telling me when I need to be at work! - but I've had a little bit of paid training time. It's a seasonal job I also had in 2008 and 2009.)

I have two jobs so I can definitely relate! And before that I had one job and a class 4 nights a week, so I didn't have any time for myself then, either. And I still have to study for the exams that the class was preparation for! If I can actually find any time to study! I seem to need some "me-time" as well, for stuff like chatting online and singing karaoke and whatever.

2009 totally effing sucked. I never want to speak of it or hear of it again. I wouldn't even spit on 2009 because that would be too good for it. It should be banished from all memories. That said, 2010, can only be better.

I feel your pain, but I have to say that your wording gave me a chuckle. :biggrin1:

I thought 2006 was bad cause I turned 40, was diagnosed with: vulvar cancer, Meniere's Disease; and was put out on disability because of my Meniere's disease. :irked:

But 2009 sucked a big, fat, hairy dingleberry ass. If my 2009 had been a car, it would have been a Ford Pinto with a full gas tank and an International Harvester riding my bumper at high speed.

More Friggin' Bloodwork!
Principessa is Back, But Not Quite Well.

The only good thing I can say about 2009 is that I survived it. I'd say more but as the memories and thoughts flood my head I'm thinking that may need to be it's own blog so I don't go :eek:fftopic: and mees up Dee's thread.

FWIW: 2009 can kiss my sweet, black ass good-bye!

More wording that gave me a chuckle. :biggrin1: 2009 was the hardest year for me financially. It wasn't the worst year physically, or even emotionally (despite my mom's death and the financial problems - despite all that, junior high and high school - ALL YEARS - were worse emotionally. And the worst year for me physically was 2003 - I had to have two surgeries for two completely different things, three months apart. One of the illnesses - the second one - that year, I almost died from!)

Hey, at least you are having sex! I haven't had sex in 8 months. :crying: :frown1:  You are obsessing and taking the fun out of it. Stop tracking your basal body temperature and checking the viscosity of your vaginal mucous and just love your husband.

Optometry? I can see why you would find that interesting. :biggrin1:

Yeah, me too... I haven't had sex in 10 months. :frown1: Of course I'm the one with the years-long dry spells - and not by choice either! It's more because of shyness (I hate to think it's anything else, like that I'm too unattractive or too old!) But maybe some guy will be wowed by my singing voice :biggrin1: and who knows? (that's a joke - I'm not that great a singer - I just do bad karaoke...although I did sing one song that I've been told was a good song for me!)

-dealt with siblings' addiction to pills
-dealt with bad relationship due to her insecurities/my detachment b/c of mil issues
-dealt with almost losing a few friends b/c of aforementioned relationship
-contemplated suicide multiple times and once dangerously close to going thru with it
-dealt with PTSD issues
-dealt with grandmother in and out of hospice
-dealt with death of grandmother

-dealt with trouble finding a job that won't finish what the mil started on my back & won't interfere with school schedule
-dealt with knowing back surgery is inevitable

So, how bad was '09 for you (if at all) and how much forward are you looking toward '10 (also, if at all)?

Well it wasn't a banner year for me but it wasn't bad either. Being naturally empathic I did find it to be a rather disconcerting year both nationally as well as with certain friends of mine !
