So I have some pictures of myself up on another popular forum, and after one recent post, I got a private message with a Skype username.

Naturally, being bored and horny, I added her. When she logged on, I gave conversation a shot ("where are you from?", "what are you up to right now?") but she wasn't too into it.

Finally, my roommate left, and we got on video chat. I was a little apprehensive, because I hadn't seen any photos of her or anything, but holy shit was she hot. Plus, lingerie, vibrators, and she moved her hips in a way that made me wonder if she was a stripper. No audio - "it's broken". However, she responded to things I asked in the chat box, both typing (visibly moving back to the keyboard to type) and by doing the specific things I asked (bend over, move the camera, show me your tits...)

She came, I came, we closed video, and I asked her what country she was in. "Luxembourg". Bullshit, nobody's from Luxembourg.

Point is: she was just so improbably hot that it was setting off some bullshit detectors. I'm not trying to marry this girl, or even meet up with her in real life - I don't care if this is some Manti Te'o shit, basically. I don't even care (that much) if some hairy lonely dude was splicing camgirl video together so he could watch me jack off. What I do care about is... could my digital security be compromised via Skype?

I don't know the answer to your question, but I do have some responses.

1) I share your skepticism. Whenever someone is way hot online, I think it's got to be some scam.

2) Your handle is wrong. You're way above average. A good writer, reflective about your experiences, and a great package. Don't sell yourself short.

I'm subscribing to your thread because I'd like to know if anyone else knows the answer.

I have one rule when it comes to Skype (or any other video chat):

If there's no audio, they need to write their screen name down on a piece of paper and hold it up in front of their webcam so I can see it. If they won't do this, then the video feed gets shut down, and they get blocked.

Whether or not your security can be compromised via Skype is outside of my realm of knowledge. But, if they follow my instructions by placing a piece of paper in front of their webcam with their screen name, at least you know you're dealing with a real person and can somewhat watch what they're doing.

There are three things that somebody can do with skype:
1) Take your skype account
2) Get your IP address
3) Record the call and post it online

If they have your IP address the worst things that they can do are narrow your location down to a city, if they feel bothered they can access your computer if you aren't behind a firewall (windows vista and newer has one by default), or try to hit you with a DDoS (which would be silly, unless you are some famous person).

If you don't care that they can record the video, you have nothing to worry about with that 3rd point.

Whether she is real or not, that is up to you to decide... but really you have nothing to worry about.

Hey, neeeeeeever doubt what you find online. Back in my cam surfing days, I ran into some ridiculously hot women. Some women DO enjoy being drooled over from behind the safety of a screen and keyboard. So it's possible you lucked up and just had a great experience. It happens, more often than you think.

But, as far as security... the worse case scenario is you could've been recorded. Other than that I wouldn't worry too much...

if she is asking to keep doing it and trying to get closer to you my guess it is a scam to eventually get something from you. ie Money. A one off Jo session cool...if someone from that far away keeps trying to skype...i see eventual scam. Nothing good can come from getting close to someone from overseas...sorry but its true in most cases

Sorry to hear you felt like you were taken advantage of.

Firstly though...... Although a small place some people actually are from Luxembourg - I know a couple :)

I agree with others, to my knowledge its only really your IP they could get and narrow your rough location down (like a city or region) from that and if your on a static rather than dynamic IP they could attempt to access your PC / network in the future if your not behind a firewall, however if your network does not sit behind a firewall I'm guessing you will have had problems before now!

Other than that she might have been able to record the video and pop it online.

There was another point which struck me even before you mentioned her location. Is it our of the realms of possibility that her English was poor? I can understand and interact in a couple of other languages - however other than order in a restaurant / shop, I would never try and have a conversation - however I would certainly be able to have a online chat - espically with the aid of a online translator if I'm struggling with a few words.

Might not be the case at all, but thought I would throw my two cents in.

could my digital security be compromised via Skype?
Well...it's a Microsoft product now, so caveat computer.

I'd be more concerned about anything visible in the background etc. that could give away your identity, location, whether there's anything worth stealing etc.

Haha I'm the same way, if I see a girl really hot on a Skype thing like that and it's not paid for, I assume it's not the real deal. Kinda like the dude who uses the same video of jacking a huge dick to catch Omegle reactions (which are great).

But, if she was doing things you asked her, after you asked, then that person would have to be damn crafty or really lucky to pull off a fake like that. Audio not working is completely believable, not to mention some people just feel more comfortable typing and not talking on the speakers, it allows them to stay just far enough removed from the situation, if that makes any sense. Might feel like audio would make it too real, when they are just doing it for fantasy. I know I'd feel much more comfortable Skyping with a stranger the first time with just video and text.

Maybe if you talk to her again, ask her to do something really specific that she can't fake, wouldn't be hard at all, just say "Hold up three fingers. Now make a Peace sign with your fingers."
