I unlearn around my family. I feel I am degenerating

My peers were and still are quite...intellectually challenged so I didn't learn much from them. I learned from reading when younger and having good teachers who encouraged me and made learning, dare I say, fun.

If our lives are planned before we are born this means that our " free will"

( if really exists) is very limited.

I dont believe we choose our parents. Some children have terrible parents . Who would choose horrible parents ? for what reason ?

No, we have free will. Although the starting point is a chosen, what happens after that is our choice.
If our lives were planned before we are born this means that we dont have choice in some things that happen after we are born . Free will is a ilussion but i dont believe our lives were planned . I think that our lives are random . Who in their right mind will choose before born to live a miserable life for example ?

Because the events that occur in their lives are opportunities to learn and grow. I don't think every single second of every single day is planned, but I think we were put here with a purpose in life. I think that when we were put on Earth, we knew what we were here to learn.

I do wholeheartedly believe in this... remembering this little fact helps me to be a kinder and gentler son.

There is a concept in Buddhism that implies that you chose your parents before you were born, because they are who you needed to learn from.
(I don't know the exact concept, I just heard it before)

Does this apply to you?

In my case it does.

In Tibet buddism the person dont chosse their parents before being born .

Only that in the end of bardo ( the state between death and the next rebirth ) the " person" will see before being born who are their parents.

I am a Buddhist, but I have never heard of a spirit or a person can choose its own parents. In the real Buddhism, a person's destiny or fate is manipulated by Karma or his past actions. If you are mean and stingy in this life, you will be born to a poor family in your next life. If you kill animals or any living creature, your life span will be short in your next life. It's all about Karma my friends !!!
In my previous life, I must have been Ghengis Khan.

My parents have never been the type to show love or encouragement. Especially my dad who seems to go by the notion of hard love "Make em feel like crap and they'll fight harder to prove you wrong". It took me alot of years to work that out and still i cant get a grasp on it.

So i guess i learn form my parents more what i DON'T want to be like and the ways i don't want to treat my kids (if i have any)Its not that i dont like they way they parent, more i just want to do it all differently.

Did i choose them - They are so different from me its hard to say
