And people think Occupy has had no influence on the citizens of out planet? Foolish! It has increased class consciousness dramatically! People are much more able to see injustice which is flying in their faces! Now they are willing to fight back. This has come directly from our action through Occupy. It is time we wake up, and take to the streets!

Oh how the world has changed! I guess in the end the media became un-evil and decided to cover the 99% (now a household term). I was there. I am part of the media. I've never seen such a media shitstorm in my life. The attention that OWS drew in the global press was unprecedented and, I believe, will have a strong and lasting effect on the American political condition.

(And if you're still ticked off about this, you might consider hiring a publicist.)

How American Corporations Transformed from Producers to Predators | | AlterNet

Yet properly governed, corporations can be run for the 99 percent. In fact, that’s still the case in many successful economies. The truth is that it’s possible to take back the corporations for the 99 percent in the U.S. if we can really wrap our heads around the problem and the solutions. Here are three places to start:
1) Ban It. Ban large established companies from buying back their own stock, and reward them instead for investing in the retention and training of their employees.

2) Link It. Link executive pay to the productive performance of the company, with increases in executive pay being tied to increases for the corporate labor force as a whole.

3) Occupy It. Recognize that taxpayers and workers bear a significant proportion of the risk of corporate investment, and put their representatives on corporate boards where they can have input into the relation between risks and rewards.

Tax Day Actions Demand 1%, Corporations Pay Their Fair Share

Watson—a member of the Patriotic Millionaires—told a Tax Day demonstration of union members, community, faith and other activists a couple of the lessons he’s learned. “The tax system is designed to give me breaks that I didn’t ask for and I don’t need. Our taxes [millionaires’] are historically low. We’re supposed to have a progressive tax rate in this country. We don’t.”

Tax Day: Make the 1% and Corporations Pay Their Fair Share | Care2 Causes

Outside an Iowa Workforce Development office in Ames—one of several that Gov. Terry Branstad (R) closed last year—workers slammed Rep. Steve King (R) for his support of the Republican/Romney/Ryan budget that gives millionaires and huge corporations more tax breaks than they already get. AFSCME member Daniel Noonan says:
'Regular, middle-class Iowans are getting shafted. Instead of focusing on the economy and helping unemployed Iowans, too many of our elected leaders like Representative King are taking care of their big donors… It’s outrageous and unacceptable. Iowans deserve better.'

New Police Strategy in New York – Sexual Assault Against Peaceful Protestors

By David Graeber, a Reader in Social Anthropology at Goldsmiths, University of London, and an author and activist currently based in New York

David Graeber: New Police Strategy in New York

"
Many of these arrests are carried out in such a way to guarantee physical injury. The tone was set on that first night of March 17, when my friend Eileen’s wrists were broken; others suffered broken fingers, concussions, and broken ribs. Again, this was on a night where OWS actions were confined to sitting in a park, playing music, raising one or two tents, and marching down the street. To give a sense of the level of violence protestors were subjected to, during the march north to Union Square, we saw the first major incident of window-breaking in New York. The window in question was broken not by protestors, but by police—using a protestor’s head. The victim in this case was a street medic named José (owing to the likelihood of physical assault and injuries from police, OWSers in New York as elsewhere have come to carry out even the most peaceful protests accompanied by medics trained in basic first aid.) He offered no resistance."
