Never. The only version of The Talk my dad did was to toss us a cartoony "how babies are made" book for young kids when my mom was pregnant. No conversation or follow up.

My only sex talk was when I started dating a girl with a reputation at a young age. Dad walk up to me and said “ are you fucking that girl” of course I denied it but he said be careful and don’t get her pregnant.

Wow. Based on the responses so far, it seems I'm in the minority. My Dad did discuss masturbation a few times during those adolescent years. He was very cool, calm and collected about it, stating it is natural to masturbate and gave me some verbal instructions on how it's done and what to expect, then he encouraged me to give it a try. A few weeks later, he asked if I had any questions and I said no. He seemed more curious about my physical health regarding the subject and just wanted to make sure my "plumbing" worked properly. In fact, one of my last physical exams during adolescence, Dad was in the room with me and the Doctor and the three of us discussed the topic from a clinical standpoint, so I guess I got a great education on the subject.

How old were you? And what do you mean by verbal instructions?

Nope, but looking back, I'm not surprised. The parents were on the introvert side and I can see why it wasn't their strong point to discuss sex WHICH I was already aware of thanks to TV/ movies especially around puberty. But to help solidify everything, they circumvented "the talk" by buying me a puberty book as well (forgot the name of it), but it had the different model illustrations of what the male body will develop into and how both boys and girls will develop. It spoke for itself, but I blamed TV and movies and school peers who also knew about sex in their school yard talks as well for my early sex Ed lessons.

Nope. Never in a million years. All that sort of thing was left to my mom, and even that only happened once. That said, she did give us a couple of fairly decent resource books to read and look at. Also, I stumbled across my dad's porn mag and video collection just when I discovered how to jerk off. After that, it was all self education.

There is a Weeds episode that is awesome for explaining to someone what jerking off is. I think by the time a lot of parents get the nerve up to talk to their kids about this, they've already self-educated online already.

No no masturbation talk no sex talk. Only thing that I was ever told (and I've said this in another thread) was from my Mom and she said there's been many a man raise a kid that wasn't his. At the time I'm like what is she talking about? I know what she's talking about now and yeah she was right.
