Well, it was over 20 years ago and I lost touch with everyone from that part of my life right around that time.
If I hadn't told her she never would have known. We'd been sleeping together for months at that point. What would be the point of telling her beforehand? She was happy.

Is there an encouraging, romantic story behind this? My wife & I took each other's virginity on our wedding night, but we were both 23 - which, at the time, seemed like a rather old age to start having sex. (Since then I've learned it isn't as rare as most young people believe.) We had met just a year and two weeks before we married, so there wasn't a really long period where we had to discipline ourselves to wait.
