Different from Dad

My dad is cut, but his brother who is about 7 years younger is not. neither me or brother is cut, but i know my mum wanted us to be, but in the mid 60's they werent doing it in the UK.
As much as i like my foreskin, i prefer the look of cut and wish i was, but not sure that i am brave enough to have it done now. My skin is pretty loose which is good for handjobs but i dont like it for intercourse and try and hold it back. Maybe one day i'll pluck the courage up!!

circumcision is a surgical procedure, and as such, would require someone's written authorization. since jews historically do not proselytize (or baptize infants to claim them for christ, as has been done by certain religions through the ages), and the muslim influence would have been nonexistent at the time of your birth (nor do muslims proselytize), it's probably dear old mom. she may have been influenced by someone; in past years circumcision was widely accepted as the modern, hygienic, scientific thing to do by middle- and upper-class americans of all faiths.

My older brother was circumcised in 1958, when he was born in this
country to my non-English speaking mother. He was subsequently
circumcised WITHOUT written consent from either my mother, OR
my father.
My younger brother and I fortunately escaped this (RELIGIOUS,
according to some faiths) observance that Europeans consider
barbaric.

Thank you for pointing out that Jews do not baptise their infants
to claim them for Christ, I was actually a bit confused on that.

No,
to keep their covenant with God, people of the Jewish faith
tear off the foreskin of the male infant on his eigth day as
commanded to Abraham by God.

Christians keep their covenant by sprinkling water on the baby's
head as it is believed was commanded by Christ. Some denominations
will submerge an adult in a body of water.

There is another yet interesting twist to Religious circumcision
(which historically the Christians forbade).
It is called Metzitzah b'peh.

It entails a practice carried out by the practitioner, or mohel.
After the tip of the boys dick is cut off, the mohel who
performs this procedure takes the boys bleeding dick into his
mouth and sucks the blood to clean it.

He then, with his lips, applies some sort of herbal mixture
to the wound.

Rabbi Yitschok Fischer of Brooklyn New York has performed
over 1,200 of these procedures.
In 2003- 04, three boys who had their dicks sucked by the
rabbi contracted type-1 herpes. It's non threatening to
adults, but deadly to infants with no immunity and one
of the boys subsequently died (that has been recorded).

Despite attempts by Mayor Bloomberg and the health department to abolish the ritual,
no concessions were made on the part of the Orthodox Jewish
community as they cited the "right of religious freedom"
and the practice continues. Fischer, however, was
placed under court order to discontinue his services.

1,200 circumcisions.

Who out there is'nt convinced that this guy wasn't simply
into suckin dick in the guise of some barbaric practice
that exculpated him from any sense of guilt as he indulged
in his pleasure?

It's true, however, that Muslims do not proselytise.
If the Qur'an is questioned or mocked, the perpetrator
may have a death sentence placed upon him, a death
sentence (or HARAAM ) that is condoned by Muslim religious leaders OF OUR MODERN ERA
as in the reknowned case of Salmon Rushdie who illicited
a death sentence upon himself when he brought to light
pagan deities whom religious scholars said were allowed
intercessory prayers alleged by certain passages in
the Qur'an.

Apostasy, "riddah", in Islam is a major sin and many
Islamic texts call for immediate execution for the sinner.
I can go on and on, but I don't think the readers would
appreciate it.

Since religious customs were brought up in your post,
I thought I might just point out a few but very valid
differences.

My Dad was cut and I guess that I am uncut. The reason for saying that is that they said at birth they had me cut, but it grew back and they refused to put me through that again. All I can say is that if it grew back it really grew back as it completely covers the head of my pennis..

I feel HORRIBLE about having my son cut. My ex mother in law had to hold me down when I heard him cry. I regret it to this day. I will tell him that if he ever asks.

My father and I are both cut (I have no brothers) but his father was uncut. I know, because I had to take care of him some, medically, when he was older. I asked my parents why they had me cut, and they replied "Because that's what you do to boys when they are born." (My mom is an LPN.) I was born in the early 70s in Upstate NY. I have no sons, only daughters, and it is highly unlikely I will have any more children, but if I did, come hell or high water, no one is going near their weiner with anything sharp. That'll be their choice, when they are old enough.

I also wish I still had mine.

I asked my Dad this question (he is pretty open) and the first answer was "because I was". Also an uncle cited a distant relative having to have it done later so "best get it sorted now". I suspect it was a peer group thing as well i.e. following the other parents who were getting it done and the trend of cousins who were born earlier and already done. I recall adult conversations about this when I was young. I recall an uncle talking about doctors who were telling him what to do when he wanted to get his sons circumcised. Anyway the family was persistent and me, my brother and all my cousins got circumcised. Some effort was required as it was going out of fashion. "it's the family look". Another uncle had to be very persistent to find a circumcision doctor. My parents GP did myself and my brother to order. My brother was trimmed tighter (to order) as mine was viewed as too loose (fortunately I wasn't sent back for a retrim). My Dad also told me my grandfather wasn't circumcised (born 1906) it was about 90% amongst his peer group (1937. probably automatic) 50% with me(1962). As it was the family look I didn't find about the other type (with the bit of skin hanging off the end) until swimming at school. I didn't find out why there were two types until we went to visit my newborn cousin who had just been done. It wasn't done for religious reasons. The stated reasons were cleanliness, ease of maintenance, lack of infections and I suspect the long healing time of getting it done later. I suspect it was also part of the medical interventionist logic of the 50's and 60's i.e. better to get it done now before it causes a problem, "foreskins off, for the boys, at birth and tonsils out at 6 followed by anything else we can think of"

I’m uncut and so is my dad... still my foreskin is quite loose and My glans is almost always half exposed even when I’m soft... and my dad’s stays covered at all times- that’s the main difference

I am cut just like my dad, never asked just seen when i was younger. I do admit i did ask why he got me done and he really just shrugged his shoulders. Convo has never come up again. He did make sure that my nephew was cut as well. not sure why it something that does not happen anymore in this day and age unless needed

My dad was cut (tradition in his family - Uncles are cut too) and I was cut from a young age because I was born with phimosis (tight foreskin). My parents are fully against removal of foreskin unless it causes health issues though

Both dad and I were cut. I’ve got a good-sized mushroom head like he had. Many times I wish I was uncut. Foreskin on guys really intrigues me!
Seems it must be a great feeling when jerking off.
Thanks William....you are truly a handsome gentleman.
