Well, REALLY, what more did we EXPECT of these f---------------? People in dire circumstances, hungry, their homes devastated, and aid response slow. But not a word from them about any of it, Instead, like Trump did, their response is to attack and demonize the messenger.

Proves what matters to THEM, eh?

We always end up back to the same starting point. Tribalism. You are not of our tribe why should we care about you? I have said before lack of empathy but I think that lack of empathy has it's foundation in tribalism.

Tribalism, it’s always worth remembering, is not one aspect of human experience. It’s the default human experience. It comes more naturally to us than any other way of life. For the overwhelming majority of our time on this planet, the tribe was the only form of human society.

Can Our Democracy Survive Tribalism?

...a new and compounding combination of all these differences into two coherent tribes, eerily balanced in political power, fighting not just to advance their own side but to provoke, condemn, and defeat the other.

.....two tribes whose mutual incomprehension and loathing can drown out their love of country, each of whom scans current events almost entirely to see if they advance not so much their country’s interests but their own. I mean two tribes where one contains most racial minorities and the other is disproportionately white; where one tribe lives on the coasts and in the cities and the other is scattered across a rural and exurban expanse; where one tribe holds on to traditional faith and the other is increasingly contemptuous of religion altogether; where one is viscerally nationalist and the other’s outlook is increasingly global; where each dominates a major political party; and, most dangerously, where both are growing in intensity as they move further apart.

The political strategists and their monied interests are using tribalism for their own personal gain. I'm pessimistic America can survive it. How can it when the two tribes disagree on what America i? You need to as least agree on that to move forward.

See what I mean? A perfect example of the sense of understanding and empathy from the a--------------ipe who calls people deliberately disenfranchised from their RIGHT to vote, "theoretical people."

People and concerns that don't matter to those of HIS ilk are all "THEORETICAL."

Just imagine if Hillary Clinton were in the WH and she decided to take a page out of Karl Roves playbook and in the face of this situation she "evacuated" about 3 million Puerto Rican's to the US. Sent a million to TX, a million to GA, half a million to FL. and half a million to LA or some other "red state"

Well ahead of the 2018 election

All the sudden Ted Cruz looses, etc etc

Right wingers heads would be exploding over that.

But when good old Karl did it they thought it was the greatest idea ever.

MAKE AMERICA GREAT
AMERICA FIRST
(but not if you live in Puerto Rica)

“Such poor leadership ability by the Mayor of San Juan, and others in Puerto Rico, who are not able to get their workers to help,” Trump told his almost 40 million Twitter followers. “They want everything to be done for them when it should be a community effort.”
Trump went on to say that there are “10,000 Federal workers now on Island doing a fantastic job” but that “the Fake News Networks” are “doing their best to take the spirit away from our soldiers and first R's"

10,000 ?
Really
and when did they arrive....

Happy Birthday to Jimmy Carter. He's 93 and build's houses after disasters.

I've had the good fortune (or misfortune, depending on how you look at it) to both study and get to know President Carter.

He was one of the most intelligent men ever to enter the oval, let alone occupy it for four years.

And one of the worst leaders ever to set foot there.

And one of the most honorable and humble men to ever lead our country.

On balance, despite the absolute absence of leadership ability, he is an amazing man with a huge heart and a brilliant mind.

Just my $0.02

Doesn't matter whether you are alt-left, alt-right, both, or neither, that shit is funny.

But didn't her racism come bounding through at about 7:00?

With no power things are going to get bad real quick. It's the lull before the real disaster beings and people start dying. But lets still get that golf game in this weekend. Remember how the Reich Wing called Obama "The Golfer in Chief"?

Trump won't let a little hurricane stop his game:

And most of those 11 times were out at Andrews which cost the government NOTHING or out at some other course in the DC area playing with Mike Wilbon and Tony Kornheiser which also pretty much cost the government nothing.

In either case he was only away from the WH just few hours.

While Trump was golfing the residents of Puerto Rica were still struggling. Many were saying that the firemen waited a week before they got any aid to distribute, and they came from NY! Local officials were reported there were a few aid workers but no aid, and what there was poorly organised - actually disorganised! As for the 10,00 aid bodies on the ground that came from Trumps lips - well they haven't been seen on the ground yet.
Why is the president such a prick., a liar and a dolt, why does he have to be best at everything, better than anyone when he is human and very fallible.
Trump has two things to keep him going, cross him and he never forgets (the elephantine walk) and will take time to destroy you - he has no compassion just greed.
Lets hope that when he sees the devastation two weeks on he might have the temerity to tell the truth, to give aid and admit that the Puerto Ricans are doing their bit, helping themselves but they cant do it alone.
Or is this another corner of America that will be forgotten?

Don't forget - Trump DID dedicate the Golf Trophy to the victims of the hurricane. Clearly that was comforting . . .

Oxfam criticizes US government response in Puerto Rico

Washington (CNN)Oxfam, a global organization working to end poverty, is criticizing the United States government's response to the crisis in Puerto Rico in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria.

The group specifically criticized President Donald Trump's administration.
"Oxfam has monitored the response in Puerto Rico closely, and we are outraged at the slow and inadequate response the US government has mounted in Puerto Rico," Oxfam America President Abby Maxman said in a statement. "Clean water, food, fuel, electricity, and health care are in desperately short supply and quickly dwindling, and we're hearing excuses and criticism from the administration instead of a cohesive and compassionate response."
The group rarely criticizes government strategies in crises affecting wealthy nations such as the US.
"The US has more than enough resources to mobilize an emergency response but has failed to do so in a swift and robust manner," Maxman said.

Maxman said that Oxfam America will pursue its own two-pronged approach to helping the island, which will consist of advocating for an overall improved response to the disaster and supporting local affiliates who are on site in Puerto Rico and can provide relief.
The organization will continue to push the government, including Congress and other federal agencies, to provide better relief and remove any barriers in place that can inhibit progress.
"Oxfam has a long history of holding governments, including in the US, accountable to protect the most vulnerable in times of crisis," Scott Paul, humanitarian policy lead for Oxfam America, said in a statement to CNN. "Sometimes, that means helping them hold the government accountable, and in Puerto Rico, accountability is sorely needed."
