Was it as disgusting as giving money to GERMANY as part of the Marshall Project after WWII? I mean didn't NAZI GERMANY kill and maim millions?

What an insult to all those vets who fought against Germany, and we gave the MONEY for losing the war?!

I'd ask if it made you think, but I'm sure it didn't, because Obama is the anti-christ in some people's limited minds. He wasn't the first President to do that.

I thought the Marshall project was kind actually - I think it's a good thing to help rebuild your defeated enemies after a war (for the sake of the civilians).

Obama bowing to the Emperor of Japan was maybe just a sign of respect?

And, by the way you a**holes, my father fought at Iwo Jima and was one of the men who raised that flag.
So, I really don't want to hear it.
Flags of my Fathers was on telly here, last night. ;)

I wouldn't be surprised if there was some outrage on a Japanese board that the Emperor allowed himself to be touched when he shook the President's hand.

Would you rather they stood several feet apart and glared at eachother?

How many of you saw the picture of the president of the United States (11-15-09) in today's papers and TV news, bowing to the emporer of Japan? Bowing to the emporer of Japan of all people. Dosen't our kid-president know that Japan, under the rule of this emporer's father, killed over two million Americans during the War in the Pacific during WWII? And our guy is bowing to the leader of Japan? What an insult to the Veterans of the War in The Pacific who went through living hell to win that war over japan.

IMO you're taking this WAY too seriously.

We're sixty-four years away from the events of which you speak. I suspect you're a troll but just for shits and giggles I'll counter withYou ARE aware that Truman gave the okay to use the Atomic Bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki? Those places are still feeling the ramifications of that exposure to radiation and will for generations to come.

I suspect you're a troll baitin us but just in case you believe your horse manure I'll counter with THIS.

Think globally not nationally. Your blood pressure will thank you.

These two men are not required to atone for the sins of prior generations - grow up.

Exactly! It all depends how far back you want to take these things, I guess Obama should never shake hands with Italian or Swedish leaders, due to the fact the a few thousand years ago Americans (who in the majority are English settlers) were invaded and killed by the Romans and the Vikings while still living in England....

Lol why is everyone getting so worked up and offended? The OP is clearly a troll, so don't take it so seriously and just laugh at his stupidity rather than get angry.

I don't think STYLYUNG is a troll.
He's been a well-behaved member of LPSG for years.
No, this is a generational disagreement, imo.
He's 89 y.o., you know.
He was 25 when the Second World War ended, maybe not far off the current average age on LPSG.
That war and its ravages are real to him in a way that they can't be for the fortunate majority here.
(That said, I think he is a big trapped in the past, and Obama's gesture was generous and human.)

The fact that conservatives and Obama critics would make a big deal over this speaks more of their character than that of Obama's, specifically:

1. Their continued determination to turn anything Obama does into a negative.

2. Their chauvinistic/bigoted perspective of other countries and of the world in general.

3. Their preference to cling to age old hatred and divisive attitudes based on past events rather than move forward in a new hope for better world relations.

4. Their apparent hypocrisy (considering Nixon and other of their rank showed similar acts of cultural acknowledgement).

and

5. Their overall contempt for anyone or anything not of "their kind" in general.

Yeah, "disgusting" indeed.
