Lucas had said in the 1970's that Star Wars was supposed to be three trilogies - 9 films total. They claim Episode VII is already under development. I wonder if they were able to get Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher to commit? Without them, whether they recast with other actors or don't feature these characters at all, it will likely fail.

However, since Lucas isn't directing, maybe it won't suck. Who knows.

Apparently, they are planning a new movie every 2 to 3 years, for who knows how long. I keep hearing a lot about how Disney will "ruin it" and make is kid-friendly and other bullshit, but even is Lucas Film had done a seventh on their own, it would have been ruined. We have to remember that Disney was behind The Avengers, and we saw how the world responded to that!

Hmm, we'll see - Lucas is creative director, apparently.
Might be ok?

I was expecting 7 some time this decade, but didn't imagine Disney would buy up Lucasfilm. As the sole owner, that's $4 billion to George Lucas, which makes him far and away the wealthiest man in Hollywood.

Pretty sure we will see the "trilogy of trilogies" run from 2015 to 2022 or so, one every 3 years.

Useless trying to capture whats gone before. With Disney at the helm it'll be a case of living off the name and making it bland and corporate..!

I'm just curious where they are going to take up with these movies? Are they going to fit them in between the episodes like the animated series is doing or are they going to present it as a movie that takes place after the last one? I'm not sure I hear a lot of speculation. I wonder if it's been too long from the last star wars movie for another one I wonder if people have lost interest.

Didnt george say a while back that he always intended to do a another trilogy when the actors were in their 70s? given hes directing this would pribably be that
The only problem is that it'll porbably contradict 35 years of expanded universe stuff.

I hear that the story will include Pluto, Lukes faithful childhood companion. I reckon that would be a bit goofy though.

Fuzzy's favorite episode was Empire, which Lucas didn't direct. Maybe this is the best thing to happen to the Lucas Film franchise. As for being too kid-friendly, weren't all of the episodes kinda that way? Even Leia in that collar and bikini was fairly tame.

Was the kinky thoughts of what Jabbas big fat tongue could do though. :) :)

Lucas realises that he can't keep going forever. It's good that he has passed it on to a company that has the ability to take it as far as it remains popular.

As long as Lucas isn't writing, producing, directing, or doing anything other than advising, I'm cautiously optimistic. George Lucas is full of almost entirely bad ideas, and the original trilogy was only so good because the studio played a heavy part in cutting out a lot of bullshit.

I hope Episode 7 would not include any semblance of ewoks or Jar Jar Binks. I cannot stand both of these.
