Do Afro-Americans perform cunnilingus? Because African men don't

Not really. Here's how it goes. You experience something strange. You become interested in the subject. You read up on it. You find some data. You form an opinion based on these data. You share the idea, to discuss it.

Do you think a sociologist has to ask all inhabitants of the U.S. to find out the nation's drug consumption rate? No, he does a sample. Same for all the social sciences, including sexology.

Finding the nation's drug consumption rate? That's a statistic - on an individual level it means nothing.

You might be able to find out that, per head of population, America consumes X ounces of cannabis per year - that does not mean that every American consumes that amount of cannabis, does it?

I've come to the conclusion that it is pointless to argue with you - you will never accept the validity of others' opinions while screaming of your right to your own.

You are false data. Therefore I shall ignore you.

False data can act only as a distraction. Therefore, I shall refuse to perceive.

Not really, a sexological study of more than 600 male subjects. Which is very representative for a population of 340,000.

Conducted by whom? Representative for a population of 340,000 what? Gay prison inmates in Indonesia?

The one study you actually cited directly was a newspaper's take on a sociological study that provided no links to methodology or the actual conclusions as written by the scientists themselves. Now you cite some study that you could well have made up.

You've made your initial claims based on a ridiculously low (pretty much anecdotal) and completely non-representative sample of African women across a number of countries. You seriously think that the amount cunnilingus received by African prostitutes would be representative of that of poor vs middle class vs rich African women?

Ok, I'm going to do a bit of research on LPSG posters. I'm going to ask how many men who give (or would give) cunnilingus to an LTR would do so for a prostitute in a third world country. My hypothesis - that men willing to give their wives head would not give head to prostitutes. Let's see if I'm right.

Coloured???

It's what they put on birth certificates. In my wife's case, it is 'native', and certainly one of the other categories is 'coloured' for mixed-race. The term used now is 'African', and coloured is still used for mixed-race. I think that whites are now 'European'. It was racist then, is racist now, and will always be racist.

See, that there is what we have a problem with. Blanket statements about people along race lines. You haven't slept with all the white women or all the black women in the world to be able to make such a sweeping statement.

I don't agree much with John on anything, but he does have a point here. Culturally, sub-Saharan African men and women are sexually open and honest, and have always been so. Traditionally, young men and young women went through initation where they learned to be an adult, including learning good sex (something we still don't teach children in our culture). Depending on the tribe, sexual experimentation was then encouraged, or at least tolerated, to put into practice the things they had learned. My wife who is African, was trained in sexual pleasuring techniques, enlarged her inner labia as some African tribes do, was taught traditional birth control techniques, although she refrained from sexual experimentation until she met me. She didn't trust those birth control techniques, so she didn't want to fall pregnant. But certainly, she did go through initation, including sexual initiation.

The best we can do are lessons on birth control and STIs, making sex seem dangerous and life-threatening!!!! How many sex education lessons are based around foreplay, mutual pleasuring, bringing women to orgasm? How many parents discusss such things with their children? In Africa, this is commonplace.

This does not only apply to Africa, and you will find similar sexual openness in the Pacific islands, and in native Americans, and in many other traditional societies scattered around the world.

Culturally, Europe and Britain was sexually repressed for thousands of years by Christianity, and our cultural values are still shaped by Christian moral values. And you don't need to have sex with every African woman in the world, or every woman of European or British ancestry, to know that sexual behaviour is very much shaped by cultural values.

I did a thesis on this very subject in university, and by random chance I married a daughter of one of the cultures I studied. And then I realised the intimate connection between what I studied and what I lived.

Getting back to the subject matter in hand (kind of) - I've had girlfriends (and one-nighters) from plenty of different ethnic backgrounds and the one thing I can say unequivocally is that the general quality of blowjob has no correlation with race whatsoever.

It's all about experience and enthusiasm, nothing more.

And there you part ways with John. Read the part of my post you quoted - I object to his splitting everything along racial lines. As you know, race and culture are not the same thing.

I do know the difference. I think John interchanges the two concepts: African women in Africa and 'black' women. The black women in his case are the women, including prostitutes, he has had sex with in Africa. That is, black women of African cultural heritage.

I read the memoirs of Joshua Nkomo, who was exiled from Zimbabwe for a time and went to live in the US. There, he was treated by the African-Americans as a long-lost relative, but he wrote that, as an African, he was nothing like them. They had evolved a different culture.

I agree. But culture does play a very big role.

I can tell you that you will find it very hard to find a girl in Saudi Arabia to give you a blowjob. Muslim girls in general are taught that this is dirty.

Of course, with the advent of the internet and the "Europeanisation" of many non-European cultures, things may change.

But go to a "traditional" place that doesn't have too much of these influences - anywhere in the world - and you will find big differences in sexual behavior.

Black african men - again - cannot stand the idea of licking pussy. Muslim girls will not give head. White Anglosaxon Protestants think they MUST have anal sex to please their man because they follow porn trends, etc...

These are clichés built on culture, and they have a very broad impact on individual behavior. I don't see what's so shocking about this discussion or these ideas. Maybe I'm just not politically correct enough for some on this board.

I'm an African man. I do.

I don't have sex with anyone I meet in Africa, specifically Zimbabwe (where I'm from) or South Africa (where I frequent) because the HIV/AIDS rate is so high.

As for cultural differences...that goes without saying. Firstly, Africa is made up of 54 distinct countries and 4 or 5 times more different distinct cultural groups. African culture isn't monolithic, just like Africa isn't a single country. So the first question you gotta ask is "do all African cultures view oral sex the same way?"

Next question?

I agree. I'm sure there are men who perform cunnilingus and men who don't, no matter where you're from.

African men generally deny performing cunnilingus. My first bf was African and before we started going out he was just a friend of mine. We were hanging out in a group one day and one of the guys in the group asked him if he'd do it. He said "no way, that's gross!"

A few days later he and I started going out and we were a couple for several years. I can tell you this: he was down there constantly. He went down on me every single time before sex. One morning I woke up and he was down there.

Duh.

Didn't you kids ever hear Richard Pryor talk about his dad giving him sex advice?

He'd go, "Boy, don't you ever kiss no pussy. I mean that. Whatever you do in life, DON'T KISS NO PUSSY!"

I couldn't wait to kiss a pussy!

He'd been wrong about everything else...
