I was just thinking about this. It's primarily in the facial features that I notice it, but it seems like gay men have a certain jaw, lip, teeth structure or certain eye shape that is similar among them. I mean, it's obviously not all people, and it's a superficial way of looking at people. But it's just a general observation.

Its like have you ever just looked at someone and had a feeling that they were gay? Maybe you call it gaydar, but it could be something physical that you notice about someone besides that.

If that's the case, do gay women have similar features, or do straight people have universal features among them? It's something interesting to discuss.

    What does everyone think?

Hmmmm - maybe it's the proverbial "gay gene"?...
Never thought of it that way. I'm very good at spotting other gay people. I just always wrote it off as acute gaydar.

The funny thing is that sometimes when i think someone is gay, they are straight. So, Im not sure your obsevations are valid. I do understand what your saying but, some of the characteristics you name can be applied to a straight man also. This should be an interesting topic though, thanks.

There is actually no correlation between physical features and being gay. I heard that lesbians all have a deformed bone in their ears but all the people who have this deformed bone are not lesbians. But I kinda agree with you, a lot of gays have common facial feature.

What bothers me the most is the voice. Why are there a lot of gays with the "gay voice". This is something in their tone of voice, it is weird. I don't know how to explain it but I think you know what I'm talking about.

And some have less bones in their wrist, gay and straight!

No, of course not! I am 48 and have known thousands of people - gay, straight, and in between - in my lifetime... and I've never discovered a common look (other than, say, a mode of dress that was popular in one subcommunity or another of the gay world).

It has been said that there are only 80 different facial combinations known in mankind (why some people constantly note resemblances to people they have known, or to celebrities, whom we've seen so much we feel we actually know), so maybe it's the gay folk you've known that you are always seeing in others...

I've shared that same observation. I do see a trend in facial characteristics in gay men. I know that this is a dangerous subject, it's not absolute by any means. I've noticed similarities in jaw lines and especially in mouths. I've even noticed this before I identified myself as gay. Some guys you can tell by looking at their face. I can think of a whole handful of guys like this. Am I making this up?

Yah, it's easy to make jokes, because like I said it is kind of a superficial thread. There are just a large number of people, that this correlates too. Definitely not everybody, and there is obviously cross over.

Another notion: some people think gay males tend to look other males in the eyes more often, and hold the gaze for a tad longer...
Then again, you might not have found another gay dude but a fellow who is slightly myopic...or a "close talker" sort (see "Seinfeld")...Hmmm...

Interesting question... I'm not sure if there is a common facial structure, but it seems that your face would be shaped genetically and that you'd look like your <presumably> heterosexual parents. From there I think one can choose/identify their own "look", and lots of gays/lesbians have that look. I dunno...

I DO know though that you have a ginormous weener; I mean damn. Just sayin...

It seems really hard for people to grasp that gays are identical in every way other than liking men instead of women. It's not some disgusting malformation that needs scrutiny and/or scientific explanation, it is what it is.
