I don't care much about fashion trends as far as gym wear is concerned, but I've often thought that I am showing a bit more than is seemly when I wear those things. The trouble is that I don't like any of the alternatives. Running shorts I hate because they are too short: they don't look good, to my eye, especially when you are stretching and they start riding up, and they allow one's bare thighs to come into contact with the seats, a feeling I very much dislike. I tried a pair of those long basketball-style shorts, but I hate their heaviness and I think that they look utterly dorky. The third option is to wear long pants (cold-weather running pants), which avoid all the troubles of running shorts and basketball shorts, but are uncomfortable for me because they hold in too much body heat. If there were some kind of shorts that were about as long as the compression shorts but not all heavy and loose like the basketball shorts, those would be the shorts for me, but I have never seen any of that description.
