IMO:

First: the policy causes dissension, because it offers 2 sets of rules to follow - one if you're straight and one if you're gay. That's not unit cohesive.
Second: What pisses me off is - the twats that run the machinery think they need a year (and lots and lots and lots of money) to do a study. Fucking retards.
it works with all our allies. there's your definitive study and answer.

The military is nothing more than a tool for the ruling corporate elite to keep their hoarding potential and the jerkoffs who they keep in their pockets.

I certainly believe that "sexplease" has the right idea.

I also visited this topic today to bring it to the first page.

Looking forward to more comments.

yeah but they also said the pentagon was going to spend the next year studying what the impact would be IF such a policy was implemented. don't expect it to just happen overnight. Obama could make it happen now with an executive order but he's too concilliatory and won't.

As much as I would like to see Obama just sign an executive order and make DADT go away, that can't happen. Congress made DADT into law back in the early Clinton years, and an executive order can't make a law go away. The only way to get rid of a bad law is to Congress to repeal it, or get the courts to strike it down.
