I have girls that are just friends with me and there is no sexual chemistry between us. It doesn't mean we can't enjoy each others company and have fun together just because we don't have sexual feelings about each other.

Tom Leykis hates women.

Fuck that douchebag....

and I have fat female friends.

But I don't like to go out in public with them. Sad but true. I work at looking good, but they kind of suck away the good looks. A guy looks better with a hot chick.

Oh, and Howard Stern was pretty cool before he got divorced. IMHO.

I believe MOST straight women feel it is fair and just to USE men to their advantage. Most see sex as a currency, to trade sexual favors in exchange for whatever it is they want: A night out, a nice home or cars, plush lifestyle, freedom from work responsibilities, children and guaranteed income...

Guys just want attention and affection.

I disagree. If guys just want attention and affection, then why do they always go for the big-breasted eye candy so they can show off for their friends? Why don't they go for the nice, plain girls that have careers and work hard and just want a nice man to love and lavish attention on?

Not that I think ALL guys do that. It's a limited point of view. For every stereo type you list about women, a woman can come back with an example of men who USE women.

There are men out there that treat women like dirt, and vice versa. The trick is to look past the men who drive expensive cars so that they can f*** a different woman every night, and the women that will only f*** men with expensive cars. Personally, I could care less what a guy drives or how much money he makes. I can take care of myself, and if a man is a jack***, no amount of material things is going to change that.

A little advise. Don't take radio talk show hosts too seriously. They rely heavily on hyperbole (exaggeration) for ratings. Just listen for a laugh.

If anyone has listened to the Tom Lykos radio show, then you're probably aware of what he says about straight single men and women -- that straight, single men are ONLY interested in sex from a woman, and that straight single man wouldn't seek out a woman's company unless he was interested in having sex with her.

And it got me wondering: If you strip sex out of the equation, would straight, single men bother to have anything to do with women at all?

Or is it just that men can't help thinking about sex?

Valerie Solanas was a psycho.

That aside, the first quote reminds me of some cartoon I saw a while ago. I think it was Family Guy. A woman attended some anti-sexual harassment workshop where they made her watch a video. An actress came out and said, "Okay, ladies. I want you to look at the man on your left, now look at the man on your right. Statistically speaking, both of these men are going to rape you." LOL. :biggrin1:

Mr. Leykis is in some interesting company. Who knew he was such a radical feminist?:

All men are rapists and that's all they are. They rape us with their eyes, their laws, and their codes. - Marilyn French

All sex, even consensual sex between a married couple, is an act of violence perpetrated against a woman. -Catharine MacKinnon

I want to see a man beaten to a bloody pulp with a high-heel shoved in his mouth, like an apple in the mouth of a pig... Under patriarchy, every woman's son is her potential betrayer and also the inevitable rapist or exploiter of another woman.-Andrea Dworkin

I feel that 'man-hating' is an honorable and viable political act, that the oppressed have a right to class-hatred against the class that is oppressing them. -Robin Morgan, editor of Ms. Magazine.

To call a man an animal is to flatter him; he's a machine, a walking dildo. -Valerie Solanas
:wtf1:

If men really only saw women as objects of sex then we'd be selling off our daughters at puberty or killing them outright, divorcing or killing every woman over the age of 30 or 40, and marriage wouldn't exist; we'd just have sexual slavery instead. Women would have no rights at all because they would be chattle. While some patriarchal societies still deny women many rights, and even permit these kinds of atrocities, these horrors are becoming rarer and western culture is light years ahead of many others in this respect.

I am SO tired of being considered a suspected rapist, misogynist, harasser, and pedophile simply because I'm male. This question is about as legitimate as asking if all black people love watermelon. I'd hate to see our society rid itself of one form of sexism only to replace it with another. Sexism diminishes any culture in which it exists.

Do straight men hate women? Sure, some likely do. Do all straight men hate women?

Do all straight women hate men?

Tom Lykos is just a loud fugly radio man who apparently doesn't believe what he says, the man has been married 4 times and was accused of beating his last wife and threatening to kill her. Plus he is way too ugly to be trying to give advice to anyone, the only reason a woman would approach him is for his money. He is just a horrid, bad impression of a shock jock. Leave that the Howard Stern, he is much better at it.http://www.nndb.com/people/160/000058983/tom_leykis.jpg

How often do women approach you (or run from you) yelling rapist, pedophile, or harasser? Do you think all women think like these women, or even most feminists? That is a far stretch.

Well, it was women's disinterest in me that made me prefer guys. Not to mention it was their neuroses, their neediness, and over all frustrating behavior that makes me glad I don't date them. It seems to me neo-feminism and the result of placing women as equals in our society have tarnished all that makes a man a man. Making it seem as if we aren't biologically fit to exist. And they're always saying if "women ruled the world there wouldn't be any wars". Bullshit! There'd be a conflict everytime someone'd show up to the same event wearing the same outfit. Every day would be like "Bridezillas Gone Batshit". Have you seen those wild-eyed heifers stampede after a rack full of discounted gown? Scary.

Wow women made you gay? That is the first case ever women blamed gayness I have ever encountered. Why don't you like men simply because you like men? I think you harbor a bit of resentment towards women that isn't fair, and because women are considered equals the world has gone bad? Men can still be men in this world. There are plenty of women who are open to the concept.

Tom Leykis does not speak for me. I'm convinced his entire life is a sham and he's just out to provoke people. It's not him that's worrying, it's the number of people who agree with him.

Exactly.....I think he keeps his name out there by saying such dumb and ridiculous stuff. I tried to listen to him a couple of times, I can't sit through it.

i partially agree with that, but i would clarify such a generalization a bit better, more like:

"a good deal of heterosexual people (either male or female) have some hidden hatred for the opposite sex."

i think it's more due to social brainwashing than natural predisposition, tho.

i blame the fact that since birth we are constantly bombarded with false information like "girls and guys are opposite worlds" when, objectively, there are more similarities between humans of different sexes than there are differences

then it's quite normal to expect many of them to grow some hatred for the object of their sexual desires when they also expect them to be completely alien

I think its worth mentioning that Valerie Solanas attempted to shoot Andy Warhol with silver spray painted bullets because she beleived he was a vampire.

I think this casts some doubt over the worth of her opinions.

I have way more female friends than male friends because they sometimes are better company. And since I am more of a romantic guy I like kissing and just physical contact more than actual sex/intercourse. May sound weird but I love to kiss. that still doesn't mean I want to kiss all my female friends.

Its ture straight men wouldnt bother to form relationships with women if sex or the prospect of sex was 'stripped' away it goes back to mans primal instinct and desire to possess or leave alone.

No, it's more complicated than that, Blacktightfit. At an early age I began to see how self-involved and materialistic young women were that made me slowly begin to realize that this is very skewed. At some point I think I realized all the wining and dining will not get you what you may want -a healthy, stable relationship with a person who is willing to reciprocate. Why should I engage in a game where I'm not expected to benefit from spending my hard-earned money?

For some warped reason most females I knew in school gravitated toward the bad boys/guys that treat them like shit and not the sensible/nice guys like myself. Girls were willing to hang out with the good-looking retard in the back of the class who periodically pulled his dick out than me. Women sometimes make really bad decisions just to stimulate their lives, not saying men don't. I just expected women to be a little more smarter and not think with their hot pockets when they see a Brad Pitt or Denzel Washington type.

In fact, I remember an encounter at 15 years-old that made me affirm that I'd rather be gay than to ever experience what occured with that particular girl. Believe me when I said it traumatized me to be threatened with sexual assault charges just for brushing her leg!

Don't get me wrong I do like women but I think alot of you are just really fucked up in your priorities and have issues. I'm just getting back at women in general by not contributing to their stupidity, not mention their gene pool.

A couple of thoughts:

I think the men/women and visual thing is also a stereotype, just as the sense of direction thing and the math stuff (I'm good at math. Not quite as good with direction but can read maps really well).

I'm not sure it's a stereotype. I've heard there is some evidence regarding men being more visually oriented and whatnot. But regardless, even if 80% of men are more visual, 20% are not, and 20% of billions of people is still a lot of people. Basically, I agree that the best policy is to treat people as individuals.

"Women are more vocal and better at communicating" and "men are better at math" are conventional wisdoms these days. What is funny to me is that lots of men are quite articulate and quite able at communicating -- but I've never heard a well-spoken man be accused of being feminine. Mathematically inclined women, however, often are thought of as masculine, or "tom-boyish." Double standard, much?

What is interesting to me, in terms of the original subject, is that at the turn of the last century (1900 or so) the stereotype was that gay men hated women. Not wanting to be romantic and have sex with women was seen as misogyny carried to its ultimate extreme. Clearly, in the last 100 years this stereotype has been reversed, but the point is that relations between the sexes and different sexualies are fluid and continue to change.

Different cultures through different ages have had all sorts of different customs and social mores. In terms of development, it seems to be some sort of interplay between nature and nurture that's not fully understood (like everything else :)

How often do women approach you (or run from you) yelling rapist, pedophile, or harasser? Do you think all women think like these women, or even most feminists? That is a far stretch.

True stories:

Guy in my office was on the phone with an upset client. He'd been as patient as can be with her but after he hung-up he exclaimed, "She should go back to mowing the lawn!" Another woman overheard that remark, decided it was sexist, and reported him to personnel for sexual harassment. He was fired. She was promoted.

Just this month I was at a resort with my family and I was detained by security for taking my 6 year old nephew to another building to see a movie. They wanted to make sure I was really his uncle because they'd seen him with my brother and his wife earlier but never with me. My sister, his aunt, had taken him all over the place and nobody batted an eye. I've had similar incidents at my other nephew's playground where the very nice women I talked to actually called the police to check me out because I wasn't my nephew's father or mother. Both times my nephews were upset thinking I or they had done something wrong.

Air New Zealand and Qantas have initiated a policy where they will not place adult men in seats next to an unaccompanied minor.

Sign at the health club in the next town over states that boys under 16 must use the single changing room set aside for that purpose and are not allowed in the men's changing room. There is no similar sign on the women's changing room.

I certainly do not blame feminism for these attitudes. I blame a culture where those in power cultivate fear among the people to keep them in control. God knows how I managed to survive being a kid. I had no idea there are pedophiles hiding behind every tree, in every airline seat, or in every locker room.

In a sense, as much as a man can be, I am a feminist. I believe in the right person for the job and equal rights for everyone. My mom's an Emma Willard girl and even before she graduated in the 50s Emma Willard was teaching girls to go out and compete in a sexist world. No braces on the brains for these girls; they were taught everything that was taught in boys' private schools. As a result my mom worked before working mothers were the norm and let me tell you, the comments I heard from the other moms in the neighborhood were less than flattering. My mom worried about it but I told her I was proud that she worked if she wanted to. I liked having a mother that was well-educated and used her talents out in the world. It was different and I knew my mother was smarter, though likely just better educated, than the other moms. Both my parents and both my sisters have advanced degrees and I'm very proud of their accomplishments. In my household, and despite my father having some old fashioned ideas of women being barefoot and pregnant, I didn't follow his example. His luddism also had much to do with my parents getting divorced .

What she said.

Andrea Dworkin and Valerie Solanas are poor examples of feminists. I do know that Valerie Solanas was repeatedly molested as a child, and that is part of why she turned out to be such an anti-man nut case. (This was covered somewhat in the film "I Shot Andy Warhol".) I don't think Andrea Dworkin goes around shooting people but she's a nut case too. I get the feeling that she was also abused as a child, but I don't know that she's talked about it. I don't really go by what women like these say anyway, although I can sympathize if they really were abused as children. That can definitely mess with people's minds.

Actually, most of the men I knew for the first 30 years of my life did hate women. And most of the women I knew for the first 30 years of my life ALSO hated women! I wound up just not liking people. I had to get to the city to meet people who weren't like this. So instead of not liking men (or women), I'm more of disliking the people from where I grew up (and I'm sure it hasn't changed much since I lived there, unfortunately). Things are much better now.

One of my favorite quotes is "Men are from Earth. Women are from Earth. Deal with it".
