It's very common, especially among younger men, although I bet with fewer opportunities, it doesn't happen nearly as often anymore. Kids used to be left to their own devices on Saturdays and during the summer; out all day going to the park, the pool, riding bikes, and sitting around in backyard clubhouses/treehouses.
