When I first came to the realisation I was gay, it was initially dismissed as being a 'phase' while getting older, which after a few years I began to realise was not a phase. All my friends were straight and I was in to a few of them, and I saw other friends behaving towards them in a similar way, who outwardly declared themselves as straight, and so I do wonder if they did have a 'phase' that they grew out of. Is this common or do straight guys know they've always been straight?

How do you define a phase?

Statistically. A giant portion (I've heard 75%) of both men who are technically straight have a male on male experience in their youth. Often group masturbation

My friend went through a phase where he would suck and jerk me off every time we jerked off together. He is straight and always had girlfriends, but over a course of several years he did that. We still jerk together, but just stroke ourselves. We never told our girlfriends and our other friends we jerked with. This was something between us.

Mind the therms and rules, no underage experience can be shared here no matter the current age of the person who was involved.
Stated that if you are an adult and still experimenting i guess that is not a phase.

I never had any phase or any group sex with other guys. I never heard any male friends talk about it. Evidently I'm an outlier in many respects.
LPSG seems to be the only place where straight guys have done or do gay guy stuff.

Humans are bisexual by nature. It is only modern society and organized religion that makes it wrong. The reason is simple. Same sex acts do not create any little followers, or add to the population.

It is quite commonplace for young men to experiment with each other. A majority of men have at least jerked off with a friend, cousin or brother. With curious guys and porn readily available, it often leads to more. The sex talk often goes to wondering what oral feels like, which often results in a "I'll suck yours, if you suck mine... just don't tell anyone" situation.

As only 3% of men identify as gay, it's a phase most guys go through. Especially in the USA, if male bisexuality was more accepted, I think a lot more men would identify as orally bi.

Um, no, I am definitely not bisexual by nature and never have been.

I think I possibly had a phase that lasted about 2 years
Everything I purchased to wear, my first choice was to see if it came in black
Everything I wore, i remember purchasing half a size or so smaller that I should have
Example I would purchase small T Shirts , when I was probably a Medium

Does this count ??

Of course, as kids, we all had our “playing Dr.” phase, with boys & girls. That wasn’t really sexual for me. And as a young man, in college, I actually lived with my gay uncle in a house full of men who were all gay, other than me. They were all respectful with plenty of kidding and joking going around. We were all friends and everybody was “Mary” ..... LOL!

There was plenty of gay porn around the house and Inwould sometimes be curious, aroused or even jackoff to some of the nice dicks I’d see. But I was never inclined to get physical with any of the guys.

Now, as an older man, I am much more curious and drawn to the idea of enjoying a nice cock (I suppose that’s why I come to this website. I still haven’t experienced another man sexually but I’m pretty sure I would if I found myself in the circumstances. Maybe I’m just entering my “gay phase”? Although, truthfully, I don’t look at men in day-to-day life as potential sexual partners. Whereas with women (between 40 - 60) I prett much do ......

I never had a phase, before or currently.
But , when younger, I remember to have "checked" where my limits of being comfortable are. Seeing nude mates (cocks), talking sex or watching porn and look at the male side of the action.

I disagree. I do think there more men who would like to explore and experiment than we realize, but I absolutely don’t believe that everyone is bisexual. By that logic, no one’s really gay and we all know that ain’t true.

”Everyone is bi” is a huge oversimplification of sexuality imo. Some straight men are liars and delusional, yes, but the vast majority of them have never been with other men, have never thought about being with men and frankly, would NEVA.

I truly disagree that "most men are bisexual by nature." As a gay man, I wish that were true, but I've seen no firsthand evidence that it is.

My world is filled with straight guys (the vast majority), out and self-identifying gay guys, and men who call themselves bi but are really gay. I define that by masturbatory fantasies. They want to be with men. Can they perform with women? Yes. Does that make them bi? No.

I do get that there are men who say they're truly bisexual. I'm in no position to disagree with that, any more than I am to invalidate someone for being trans just because I can't identify with that personally. BUT I can say that in my middle-aged life I've never encountered someone who was truly bi. Calling themselves "bi" as a step to coming out as gay in the great majority of cases. In a literal couple of cases, all in college, "bi" was a trendy thing a straight guy called himself for a year or two.

Women are different, and I have known bisexual women.

I think it’s less of a phase and more colouring where your limit is. Some people do that by trying it and some people move slowly so will talk about sex with mates and then having more explicit conversations. Maybe checking out mates dicks in changing rooms etc. It’s just different for everyone.

I’ve tried most things, know what I like and what I don’t and won’t budge from that. Are there some occasions that I would go further than my limits? Maybe but I would have to be incredibly horny to do so.
For me I just like having chats with lads, comparing dicks and wanting together. No sucking etc.
Bit of porn and some decent lads can make for a good night. But I had to try other things for me to realise that is what I wanted. It was natural to think “oh I like seeing dick and chatting to lads, I must be gay” when that isn’t the case.

Sexuality is very much a spectrum, not a switch. It’s not straight or gay. Think of it like a stove burner. You have “OFF”, which we will equate to 100% straight, and you have “HIGH”, which we will equate to 100% gay. There are definitely people that fall on either end of the spectrum. I, myself, have never fantasized about women, though of what it would be like to be with women or had the desire to be with women. I’m on the 100% gay end. There are many men who fall on the opposite side. Most, however, do fall somewhere in between. It might be a 90/10 situation, wherein one might have the occasional fantasy and might, with the right person, under the right circumstances, act out said fantasies. It could be 50/50, with no preference either way. I do not believe it is ever a phase. Rather, it is what we are willing to admit/ be comfortable with based upon societal/familial/religious standards.

I know that's the popular belief, but it just doesn't match to my own life experience. Anyway, only straight guys are supposed to be posting answers here. Not sure if that's the allegedly 80/20 or 90/10 straight guys or only the 100%.
