Right. McGann played Percy Tiplis who led a mutiny in the British army during World War I in this 1986 BBC mini-series. The opening shows Percy reporting to the constable for his judicially-ordered birching in 1901. The scene is quite graphic and historically accurate with respect to the proper procedure and birching pony, many of which are displayed in museums throughout the UK. The Brits sure did love their whippings ---- even paid prostitutes extra to have a proper birching in Victorian times.
