My wife is %100 straight, however, she has a very good sense in recognizing if some females she just met or noticed in a distant is a lesbian. Background, my wife has a couple females friends she knew in high school and still hang out/being friends with them that are lesbians. I've met them and couldn't have a clue that they're.

Every now and then, when we were in public places like a concern or a restaurant, she would pointed out one and mentioned that the lady is a lesbian, or some lady was making pass at her.

I looked at those she pointed out and have had no clues how my wife detect that (or have a "gaydar" as for reference for the guy).

I'm glad she mentioned that as it affirmed to me she's committed to me. The question is just out of curiosity.

I don't begin to assume anyone's sexuality based entirely on how they speak or handle themselves. That's kinda shitty in my personal opinion.

I know my queer friends are queer because well, we talk about it. They know I'm queer despite being in a heteronormative marriage, because again, we've talked about it. Nobody assumed because I prefer jeans and t-shirts to dresses and heels that I liked to get freaky with anyone regardless of their identifying gender.

Your wife doesn't really know if some stranger on the street is a lesbian. Not unless that chick is tongue deep in another gals muff, and maybe even not then. Bi/pan exists too.

The term "gaydar" is in my opinion othering and discriminatory. It is a way of painting an entire group of people with a very broad brush without acknowledging the fact that not all homosexual people act/present the same way.

I've been mistaken for a lesbian so many times always by men. I've never had a woman approach me like that.

But I guess to some men seeing a woman partake in extreme manual labor is a sign of penis envy, and, therefore, I must not be into men other than to emasculate them.

I swear I have never dissuaded any guy of that notion. I kind of liked them guessing, too.

But I have no way of telling anyone's sexual preference by just watching them going about their daily activities. I'm friends with a few lesbian couples, but even then until I knew them I didn't know.

Do I have suspicions? Nope. I couldn't care less.
