Watch out for a your/you're thread from me in the future

Heck, I do that all the time. I know the difference between your and you're (you are) I just start typing and let the words flow. Most of the time I do not edit what I write unless I want to add something. Since I'm working while I'm here I'm normally flying. Anything for a break from what I'm doing for 5 minutes at a time. I am trying to be alittle more careful, but it I'm sure things are going to slip through.

Hopefully if I am having a conversation face to face with someone I tend to sound more intelligent. Normally here, I am trying to get out everything I need to say as fast as possible and get back to my work. Since I am pretty much always working interaction on this site is my main source of human interaction through out the week.

You/you're is one of my bugbears. But I accidentally type it wrong too sometimes! Drives me nuts when I do. You can usually tell from someone's posting style if stuff like that is an accident.

I don't sound any more intelligent IRL. I type the way I think and the way I speak - lazily and with lots of colloquialisms. But I can switch to formal academic language and write a brilliant essay. It often surprises people when they find out I'm a good student coz I speak so lazily.

My posting style is pretty much always rushed. However, that does not mean I am not putting thought behind my words, it does mean I'm not editing out every typo.

Well good for you. We all have parts of ourselves that are kept hidden from this site. Fortunately I am rather good at looking past the typos to the hidden meaning behind someones words. I ignore whatever bothers me and move on with my thoughts pertaining to their specific post, not the way it is written. I could care less if someone is a glorified member of MENSA if they treat other people like dog poo because of how they write.... well my thought is "whatever!" The smartest people I know personally are also the most humble.

Omitted a word, not omitted to type a word. "'So,' not 'it.'" (Punctuation inside quotation marks.) :biggrin1:

I'll give you that the accepted form is to have punctuation inside quotes but I have never liked that rule and consistently ignore it.

As for attempting to correct my 'omitted to type' to 'omitted', :)smile:) both would be fine in the context in which I wrote the former. So the only conclusion I can draw from your comment is that you think you know what I mean better than I do. Which, of course, you don't.

It irritates me when people get things wrong, but usually it isn't really their fault so I take a deep breath and look at what they're actually saying. It does take me a moment though . I most definitely do not like people who are more educated than others and think they're better because of it. Just coz you're smart or educated it doesn't mean you're a good person. And being a good person is always a better thing to be IMO.

The correct conclusion would have been that I wanted to see how fired up you would get.

How would you know? You ain't seen nothin' yet.

 Should I start running for the hills?

Sometimes I like to poke the bear. Think of it as the running of the bulls without the danger of being gored in the nuts.

I like my bears to stay in the woods. And I would be watching the bulls from the window, not the street. I'm not much of a thrill seeker (except when it comes to sex :biggrin1:).
