A number of years ago one of my patients told me that she had a full body orgasm while birthing her daughter. It was the first I had heard of it then. I don't have any kids so I don't have first hand experience.

ugh, this is a new trend. Kinda like Gymboree, Pilates and Scientology.

Like Dolphette said, hour upon hour of agony. My experience was worse than the norm and the only thing i could compare it to was a soldier getting his leg amputated on the battlefield with no anesthesia......then i finally got a c-section.

I begged them to beat me unconcious with a baseball bat until it was over. I've never said anything like that during an orgasm.

No babies here, but I was wondering if you happened to be eating tiny pieces of paper with smiley faces on them when you posted this question? :).
LOL Well put, I like that.

Sure, and men cum when expelling kidney stones
I knew it!:biggrin1:I knew it wasn't all that painful and y'all just wanted a couple days off work to watch daytime tv.

well if there was any chance of sexual sensations during childbirth...
I would think the epidural would've killed it...
next to serious labor pains before & constant pressure after...
but then again...
there are some weird fuckers in this world...

Do women orgasm while birthing a child?
Yes, of course they do. :biggrin1: :duh: It is the neverending search for the 'BIG O'; and I don't mean Oprah. That's why teen pregnancy rates are so high, and also why women as old as 70 have gone to extreme measures to have children, all over the world. Glad that's settled, next question.

I am not sure if orgasm is possible, but like Kotchanski suggested, perhaps if it does happen the woman might feel shamed into silence or pressured to agree with the dominant "birth is torture" viewpoint.

Regarding an aspect of pleasure during childbirth. A few years ago, Susie Bright wrote articles about the "sexual side of birth" and her experience with a vibrator as labor aid. One of her few defenders was Betty Dodson, which is where I initially read about it, but she received a lot of negative feedback for associating birth with pleasure - even as pain relief. I'll post an excerpt here and a link to the rest - Susie Bright's Journal : Egg Sex

"I pestered my teacher for three weeks about whether she thought using a vibrator during labor would be helpful for pain relief. She said each time that we would discuss it next week. She recommended all sorts of other distractions and exercises: going to the bathroom frequently, changing positions, getting in the bathtub, focusing on a special object, etc. Well, I decided on my own that my Hitachi magic wand was going to be my focus object. I believed that stimulating my clit would be a nice counterpoint to the contractions going on inside my belly.

I have a great photograph of me in the delivery room, dilated to six centimeters, with a blissful look on my face and my vibrator nestled against my pubic bone. I had no thought of climaxing, but the pleasure of the rhythm on my clit was like sweet icing on top of the deep, thick contractions in my womb. [...] Due to my baby's unusual breech position, I had a complicated birth that finally ended in an emergency Cesarean. But I had a great labor."

A guy is attending the birth, his partner is screaming all sorts of obscenities at him in her agony. "It's all your fault you fucking bastard........................" etc etc.

"well, as I recall," he says, "I wanted to fuck you up the ass, but oh no, you said, "no, that'll hurt.""

I clearly differ from most in as much as I didn't experience all that much pain, nothing to warrant whining about anyway (though the women in the rooms next to me, and the ones during my week stay after all sounded like they were being brutally murdered lol) But I'm told I have an abnormal tolerance for pain, so that probably explains that.
yeah, second time round was fun!

10lb 12oz baby, but i stayed up on my knees and refused drugs...the whole thing was painful in a perfectly bearable way. i never felt out of control. was laughing & joking right the way through.
every labour is different, so assuming it will be agony and going straight for the drugs is a big mistake! my body definitely coped better when i was more active and in control, and i recovered from it much faster. no tears, no bruises, just a bit of an ache.

i actually told the midwife off for encouraging me to lie down when my body was telling me to stay kneeling up and rolling my hips. :biggrin1:

i think first time mums are given a raw deal...either they're scared shitless by horror stories or given a false impression by happy hippies. you can't plan how your body will cope, so you've just got to play it by ear and go with the flow. realising halfway through that you can't do it without drugs is ok! if you don't want to dull the pain then that's ok too!

educate yourself, go in with an open mind, understand that you can't control the way your body labours and that you just have to find a way to work with what it's doing.

The latest Details Magazine has an article about a 3 way rlsp. in which the 2 guys stimulated her to orgasm during childbirth. One did anal stimulation and the other clitoral and she had the best orgasm of her life while birthing her baby. Kinky!:)

Hell no did i orgasm while in labour. My first labour was tough but i still managed a drug free water birth but that also ended in a drug free experience of doctor having 2 arms up inside me ripping my placenta out. My second labour i opted for as much drugs as possible. Much nicer experience.

I do have to say though that actually pushing my kids out was the exact feeling of a man with a huge fist pulling his fist out after a rough hard fisting.

My experiences have led me to believe that sex should not be painful. Would that be the right time to have that kind of reaction?. Chances are she is feeling a different kind of euphoria...drugs notwithstanding.

Historically orgasm was used during labour to help with the process as orgasm helps release the endorphins the body produces to cope with pain and stress (oxytocin I think its called)...not really as kinky as you might think...our society is so closed to the real earthiness of pregnancy and birth. I have had 3 children naturally and while they were considerably painful, they were also some of the most spiritual and sensual experiences I have ever had. Sensuality and orgasm do not always have to be a part of an erotic process.

With my 4th childbirth experience I did have an intense feeling of euphoria. I'm a huge exception to the rule though.

My first child was agony. She was in a wrong presentation and after 3 1/2 hours of pushing I had a emergency c-cection and was in the worst pain of my life.

Each subsequent child my labor became shorter and shorter. Keep in mind that I've never been able to carry a child past 35 weeks pregnancy so my kids were all 6 lbs or under.

With my forth and last child I was put into the hospital because I developed gestational diabetes, had started to contract at 33 weeks and dialate and my bp was too high with proteins spilling in my urine. 3 years before my third child had died shortly after birth from a severe heart condition so they weren't taking any chances with me or my 4th baby.

I was placed on Mag sulfate and they were able to hold off on my labor for about 3 days till I was at 34 weeks. I woke up that morning, had breakfast, was taking my shower and my water broke in a huge gush.

Start to finish labor and delivery took less than 30 minutes. There wasn't time for the Epidural to take effect and the intensity of the contractions were enormous! I was in a semi sitting position with a bar to lean on. I let myself completely relax between contractions (I'm sure the mag sulfate helped) and I felt an intense feeling of euphoria coming over me in wave after wave. The birth was so fast that Jak was out in 2 short pushes. I didn't even feel the tearing that had occured from the super fast delivery.

I don't think I could ever qualify it as an actual orgasm, but the out of body sensations were very similar. I will never forget those feelings as long as I live. Hours later once all was said and done I was in intense pain and begging for the pain meds! Lol!

I do know of a few women who have had similar experiences as mine. Most of them it was with natural delivery with intensive relaxation techniques being employed including hypnosis sessions during pregnancy. I say anything that makes one of the toughest experience of a woman's life easier ought to be studied a ton more!
