So, my wife and I were discussing foreplay and such and she made the comment that she'd appreciate more of it. I always try welcoming constructive criticism, but sometimes I blurt out the wrong thing. My immediate response should've been, "Sure, how can I make it more exciting for you?" Instead, I replied, "But I go down on you and make sure you cum before we have sex, isn't that enough?"

But her response was interesting. She said she didn't consider cunnilingus as foreplay, rather she considered it as sex itself. The discussion went on to more specifics, but that comment intrigued me. I've asked several women since then and I've gotten different answers, what's yours?

I consider it foreplay. To me, sex is intercourse only. But I guess it varies from person to person.

the end of sex is always the male orgasm.
the female orgasm is something you get out of the way before getting to the grand finale.

    pah!

why not have oral after sex?
    or oral instead of sex?
does she ever just get you off, without expecting something in return?
if so, do you return the favour?

    fondle. lick. fuck.
things get very unsexy when they're just part of the routine.

Oral both ways can be foreplay or the actual sexual act. IMHO, if oral leads to intercourse then it is part of foreplay. It is tougher when talking about women, because with men, an orgasm from oral can either be the end of it for the night or can cause a delay where more foreplay is required for intercourse. Whereas many women can just keep going and going.

I do agree you need to ask her what she means. It might be more kissing, a sensual massage, more playing with her breasts. Let us know what she says.

    how i'm interpreting her pov...

blowjobs can be foreplay, or can be stand alone sexual encounters.
so why is oral on her only ever seen as the warm up act?
maybe she's like it as the grand finale sometimes.

or maybe she'd like it to be a sex act in itself. nothing expected afterwards.

we lick a guy to completion and that's where it stops.
he licks us to completion and then it's assumed we should shag or blow.

when was the last time you gave your guy a surprise bj, then zipped him up and went on with your day?
when was the last time a guy did the same thing for you?

i think the girl just wants to lay back and enjoy her post orgasmic bliss for once, instead of having to move on to the next scene.

I've always considered it part of foreplay - but what do I know I'm just a guy

Going from the context of the conversation I'd say she considers it foreplay as well but would like you to do it for longer periods and for more than one orgasm.

I consider it to be foreplay, as I do fellatio. Any sex act not involving penile penetration is foreplay in my book. That doesn't mean that they can't be stand alone sex acts if you stop there but they're still foreplay.

well that's the funny thing about women.
    we're all different.

personally i don't want you to make me cum at all.
and if you persist in trying then i'm getting dressed.

    but that's just me.
    being an individual.

    bloody women

Who cares whether it's technically foreplay or not- it's very enjoyable.

I find cunnilingus the most challenging part of sex, it's as much fun as a video game, with prizes to win such as orgasms and squirts. I get a lot of pleasure from doing it especially when my girl is bucking like crazy as she cums and cums! (This REALLY turns me on)
I usually avoid coming inside her pussy so I can lick her some more without my "man taste" spoiling things!

Interesting question. I kind of think it depends on context - if it comes before sex and as something like a segue to intercourse, then yeah, it's foreplay; if it's a stand-alone act, though, I don't think I would consider it foreplay.

I wish my lady friend would let me do this. I always try to go down on her without it going anywhere else, but once I start she wants me inside of her... I'm not necessarily complaining, just saying :)

Dunno about that one. I love going down on a girl, but when push comes to shove, I'd probably rather play left4dead.
