Nah. If you're confident with yourself you don't feel the need to compete.
Some people, especially if they're insecure, try to build themselves up by tearing others down. Not trying to sound judgmental, but that's not my style.
If you want to be the best you can be, then I think it's far more productive to work on what you have, and build and improve on that....than it is to try to bring down your "competition" so to speak in order to be the best.
With that said, I do enjoy learning motivational tactics that spur people on to success, and creating a competitive (but not mean spirited) environment of competition is one of the best ways to move people to action.
