In specific terms of 'justice', I don't believe in Karma. Whenever I read the newspapers or watch the TV news I just shake my head in disbelief at the bad things that happen to people who do good things or simply lead honest lives and the 'luck' that seems to befall the people who commit bad or dishonest deeds.

Tell us more, Pendlum.
Are you thinking very specifically of bushido, "the way of the warrior"?
It was influenced by Buddhism, but also by Shintoism, Confucianism and Taoism.
And we are speaking only of a Japanese tradition anyway.
But Japan was only one country in which Buddhism thrived.
I think it's clearly true that Buddhism has historically been one of the least aggressive religions.
That's not to say that there haven't been moments in history when Buddhist leaders were allied with their country's war-mongering political leaders. This happened in Japan, for example, during the Second World War.

No I'm not talking about Bushido, which pertains to Samurai class.

My point being that it wasn't always so peaceful, they were fanatical, even if only in Japan. So even if there was no fanatical history of Buddhism, it still wouldn't be proof of karma.

You think an only life could be enough to allow the Universe to turn the Wheel? Patience is the key word... Be sure that evil will act on karma as well as good things and thoughts do..they 'll produce their effects in a given time but this time not necessarily belongs to the present life.. karma needs more and more lives to fully accomplish...but,again,be sure everything let its track in the Universe, it is like a closed system where all the energy is always the same but changing its shape everytime. Nothing is constant. Except change

hmmm..i love this..

Wicca has a similar concept - what you 'give out', will be returned to you three-fold. Not so much about rewarding or punishing good or bad, but the 'energy' you put out - as a lot of posters have already mentioned. There seems to be a 'power of three' theory in many religions/belief systems. "When you point the finger at someone, there are three pointing back at you"

Every religion has this concept , what I want to highlight here is the in Buddhism there's not a god but only the Universe and what we do isn't good or bad in itself.. we have to be aware however that every action and every thought has its weight and its meaning in the big ,closed system of the Universe. So you have not to be scared from a God that punish you for your sins but only aware that everything you do is going to come back to you in a different shape and in a different time

Not really karma but I do believe that lying and cheating has a funny way of coming back and biting you in the ass.
Yeh, I agree with this, too. But again, it's kinda cause and effect - certain behaviours bring about certain responses or consequences, and are often almost guaranteed to end in a certain way.

Btw, I think I'm being punished for peeing in ur shower in one of my past lives. :frown1:

I don't believe in the spiritual concept of Karma. I believe that if a person goes around burning bridges with people who have helped him or could help him in the future then he just ends up hurting himself. I believe that a person who makes a lot of people angry or who hurts other people inspires others to hurt him back or abandon him. He'll get cut out of people's lives. I believe that people like that hurt their own careers and social lives and end up miserable. I've seen that happen. I know people who hate returning home because it involves "running into people" and that's always painful and unpleasant for them instead of fun and full of nostalgic memories.

It's true that in business, Karma works a bit differently sometimes. Some people can have a bad personality, but if they produce good work, then they can still have a good career. That's also Karma in a way, since the quality in question is how valuable their work is, not whether they'll mind their Ps and Qs. A person can have a good character for being hard working, highly talented, and very productive, without being friendly. Getting paid to do good work, then producing high quality work is good business Karma.

However, I swear I've noticed that people who have both good personality Karma and good business Karma get further ahead in life than people who only have one of them.

Agreed. You can't prove or disprove karma.

Wrong continues by leading to more wrong. If you had said the opposite, that wrong is continually lessening, that would be non-karma.

My karma ran over my dogma, which is why I don't have much
But they could both be proofs of karma.
Wrong continuing: Peeps haven't worked out their karmic issues and continue doing wrong.
Wrong lessen: Peeps are working out their karmic issues and so do less evil.
There's no fighting such an argument.
It's almost meaningless.
(Or maybe something that is entirely within the realm of 'direct knowing,' but again, that's not anything you can argue for or against except by piling assertion upon assertion.)

Maybe better worded would be, "Too many continue to wrong others, and get away with it"

In 7th grade, my best friend was partially responsible for outing me to the school. He pretended to be my friend while spreading rumors and talking about me behind my back. I can still remember all those times he demeaned me and said I was going to hell for being gay. It wasn't just me he did this to. He talked about everyone. The situation affected me for years. And growing up in a strict religious home, I had no one to talk to about my sexuality and what I was going through. But I eventually got over what happened and moved forward with my life.

I lost touch with him after grade school (which was back in 2000). But a little over a year ago, my sister told me in a phone conversation that he is now a child molester and recently got in trouble for it.

So yes. I do believe in karma. He made life hell for a lot of people and it eventually came back to him.

karma is not a believe it is a fact.

there is no karma god that will punish the wicked or anything like that.

The choices you make today define the future of this world however small they may be.
You bring negative attitude out in the world the world gets a bit more negative and that can bite you in the ass at some point or not.
