In watching some of the amateur porn videos, I have noticed that many of them have rather loud music playing in the background, perhaps to drown out the sounds of sex for the neighbors. When you have sex, do you need music playing? Does it need to be loud to drown out the sounds of sex, or is it soft and romantic? I prefer very soft instrumental music playing, since I want to hear all of the sounds my partner makes, instructions he gives, and my own sounds of pleasure. How about you?

Usually I don't play music when I am with a sexual partner. However, way back in my long lost youth, I was a regular bath house customer. An ancient hotel in Washington D.C. had been converted into a gay bath house. It was old, dated, poorly maintained. The sex was all night long every night. The ownership used to play country music loudly over the sound system throughout the hotel. Guys roamed from floor to floor and door to door looking for hook ups. One night I hooked up with a really hot fit guy. We were just so into each other the sex was mind blowing. We were in my little room for a couple of hours. All the time Ronny Milsap was singing loudly in a sound loop 'Smokey Mountain Rain.' I was not a fan of Milsap or the song until after that night. Now it brings back amazing memories of a really amazing night.

Ah yes, bathhouse sex. Usually over the blaring sounds of pounding techno music. I always wondered why every gay establishment had to sound like a dance bar, considering the clientele of a bathhouse would be much happier with Beatles or even Nat King Cole over the cacophony that invades our ears. But then, like you, whenever I hear this music, I think back to lying on a mattress being pounded by multiple men.

All the bathhouses I have been to always had Techno or Dance music playing. Not exactly what I want to listen to during sex, but now I do associate that music with getting laid.

I think it has to do with the attendants who control the music. They are usually younger and are used to the blasting shit at the bars, so they play it for their own entertainment. I went to one in Akron, where the clientele was older and the attendant was older, so soft to medium music from the Oldies station was the usual fare. It was pleasant.

Makes sense.

When I was single, I almost always had music on. It helps fill any empty silences when you first meet people and also drowns out any noises when fucking - my housemate only ever heard me moaning once and I’m pretty fucking vocal!

I also find the tempo helps with the fucking rhythm ;) I’d always have more up tempo songs on that would make fucks a lot more passionate etc

Of late my sex life is non existent I may as well be crossing the desert. In which case your question is a bit like finally reaching the oasis and being asked if I'd prefer Evian or Perrier.

I'm in the same boat, as are many of us, which is why we're here instead of fucking. By the time we get laid, every song written will be an oldie.

Music goes hand in hand with sex for me. Its not absolutely necessary, but I prefer it. I have different playlists saved depending on who I'm with and what atmosphere I'm trying to create.

Music can help set the mood, make up for any awkward silence that might come with a partner you're still getting to know, and it can help with rhythm.

Some music is better for intimate kissing and body rubbing, while other music is better for an upbeat fuck session.

Herbho,
I agree with you, if there is going to be music, I like music that sets and gets you into the mood, then I want music that is pretty much romantic, like Janet Jackson's Funny How Time Flies When You are Having Fun. Jon B's Someone to Hold. Just too name a few.

i listened to music during my sessions back when we had sex! The list included Portishead, Morcheeba and Tricky. as for the pounding techno/edm that is played at bathhouses, I do not understand why but to each their own. All i really need now is some hunky men to screw the heck out of me. I would even not play music!

I agree. It's been so long since I've had sex, I'd even settle for listening to Tiny Tim or Nickelback.

I think music adds to the atmosphere but I don't always put some on. Depends on the situation, I guess. And I don't have a specific playlist – as it also varies what kind of music it is.
