Do you know anyone who has been touched by these tragedies?

Do you know anyone who passed away from.....

I agree... these threads are getting awfully personal and people are getting attacked in them.... :s

You are preaching to the choir sister. He has attacked me in 3 separate threads in the last 24 hours, because he doesn't know how to disagree without attacking. I don't expect everyone to agree with me; but I do expect them to behave in a civil and polite manner.

Calling me a cunt and criticizing my gallery pics in a thread used to be considered trolling. IMHO mem0101 is clearly beyond a warning and has passed into banning territory.

Unfortunately, I can recount all of these events in my lifetime. I grew up in a small town and was on the ambulance for almost 9 years. The one on murder. I had another classmate of mine in junior high shoot another classmate and kill him. The jerk is out of jail now even.

Until you learn how to spell and write a coherent sentence I think you shouldn't post any more new threads or polls.

Why do you want to know? This is going to bring up many unpleasant and painful memories for a lot of members. I know for fact there are many members who have experienced loss by all of these horrible methods.

I know how to spell and write a coherent sentence. Yes I do post typos at times.

I just thought it would be interesting for people to share what has happened in their lives.

If you had just said that you find the poll disturbing, I would have said that it was not my intention to make you feel that way, and that I was sorry that you did feel that way.

It was wrong to call you the C-word.

I think that you responded to the post in anger and hurt, I now understand that.

I am not trying to get people to argue. I wish all of us on here could get along, but it will never happen.

People are different, some want to share their losses and others do not.

I am sorry NJQT that I did reply with such rage.

To the OP - all of the above - what's it to you?

It's just curiosity and sharing stories.

I didn'tused to think that... now I'm not so sure.

Why would posting a poll or question about tragedies incite arguments?

Don't be ridiculous. I don't read every thread, only the ones I am interested in. You can also point your mouse over the thread to see a preview of the litter.
I don't read most of it to see what you've said.... don't be silly now. Your posts are so similar that there is no point in reading them. I read them for other peoples replies.

There have been more than one incident in specific types of accidents, but the onces that come to mind the most are:

Motor vehicle accident - My husband was killed by a teenager in a head on collision.

Fire - A very good officer friend burned to death in his police car responding to a call and was alive at the time.

Suicide - I have had more than one friend in emergency personnel commit suicide, and a very close friend did so while we were in high school.

Murder - My cousin was murdered in an alley on his way to the store to get my Aunt some milk. He was 8 years old and lived on a small reservation. Shot in the head for about 4 dollars.

Other accident - I used to work for a commercial airline, and very close friends who were flying standby and co-workers died in the crash of one of our aircraft.

As a result I never hang up the phone or leave someone while angry or telling them I love them, no matter what.

I had a cousin who was found strangled in a motel in Suburban Chicago.

I dated a girl whos father shot himself (Ironically on my 21st birthday).

I worked with a guy who was killed after being clipped by a WaveRunner while swimming in a lake.

Holy Crap, ZOS23xy.......that's a shitload of stuff to have survived !!

Our parents had already passed on when my one sibling, my older brother, was killed almost instantly by a drunk driver.

One of my husband's uncles commited suicide.

A high school friend was killed in a crash one month after graduation.

A friend's only son was murdered. His son was around 20.

One of my husband's cousins died of an accidental/unintentional combination of prescription drugs that were lethal taken together.

A friend from junior high school was in her 20's when she died of a burst aneurysm in her brain.
She just went home from work early one day with a bad headache.
She was found in bed with the phone in her hand the next morning.

It gives me an odd attitude. I tend to have views others do not understand, they having not been "given" the same sort of experience.

I'm not a pessimist either. I tend to think there are ways to have a good positive outlook even in dark areas. I have also talked people out of suicide.

By the way, in viewing some of the commentary, I'm surprised by the amount of anger generated over responses to typographical errors. Considering the thread line and its inherent darkness, hostilities over misspelled words seems kind of non sequitur ish, perhaps revealing more about the posters than they realised or desired.

Take care guys.

My brother's daughter died of cancer just a few days shy of turning two. That was 18 years ago and they have never recovered from it.

You never recover from losing a child. Whoever "they" are say time heals...it doesn't. Everyday when you wake up, you are confronted all over again that death is the reality.

Why do you feel you have to ask these questions mem? Between this and your rape poll...do you like making people feel bad? I'm sure that people who have had loved ones die or were raped are fully aware of it and don't need to be reminded by you.

PS...you post this thread, which is in very bad taste and really quite nosey of you. Then you get mad and insult someone that you have offended!? Go and take your medication. Preferably an overdose!

that (highlighted) is not a kind thing to say, but I understand that you are very upset. I am sorry that these two polls upset you so much. From your member name I imply that you are very frail. So agian I apologize.

Yes I am nosey and curious about life. The rape poll was anonymous. I was curious (nosey) about another thread that talked about gay men getting raped. That's why I posted it with different categories.

this poll was interesting to me. I see that a majority of deaths is suicide, followed by car accident.

I am lucky that these are the only 2 that have toched my life.

My childhood friend's aunt was killed by a drunk driver (in the late 70's) by a head on collision. (she was the only one who died out of 5 people in the car)

Last year my cousin's husband commited suicide. He had been caught cheating. I heard the story second hand from my sister. My cousin was driving one day and she saw her husband leaving a motel with another woman. She said she had felt that my dead grandmother spirit (sharing being a fraternal boy/girl twin with her) had told her to go to that place.

She later ended up in a car behind the two of them. When she called him on his cellphone and asked where he was, he lied to her. She said oh, really "I am behind you". I guess that she did not want to continue the marraiage. Luckily they had no children. But she is now alone.

He was only 39. He was missing for days, they found a charge for a shotgun on his credit card and they found him in his car in an old abandoned factory which he had work in. They think he went there because he was happy when he worked at that place. (I've never told anyone else this story before)

I'm not frail at all. I possess compassion. I wouldn't like to make people relive or have to think about "tragedies" they've already experienced. Maybe if you had compassion you'd think twice about the kind of invasive questions you ask.
