I have had loads of iterations of my time on the site. Main reason I joined was I found it by accident, wanted to build up confidence and comfort with my sexuality. I joined as an insanely closeted 19 year old. Mainly just used it for the chat rooms and porn links initially. And for exploring my sexuality, it is an excellent site for men with any homoerotic curiosities whatsoever too, so it worked well for the early days for me. I’m here for a few reasons:
A) it’s the only place online or IRL that I can openly talk about sex
B) it’s always active and there are always new discussions
C) it’s a place where people can express themselves on nearly any topic in brutal (and honest) ways without being crashed by mods.

I have found people who are curious about things such as their own gender identification or sexual preference and can discuss it, even if it's online, tend to be more mentally stable than those who deny it. Not that I'm shaming the ones "in the closet" at all... There have been many people in my life that I have watched destroy their own relationships and lives by keeping all that in! The most common trend I've noticed is anger. My friend's partner of 7 years was very angry and abused drugs, physically abused my friend and ended up going to jail for domestic abuse. He ended up getting caught with emails/craigslist adds from men, my friend finally let him go and I hope he has let go of that anger by admitting it to himself and moving on. My other friend tried making up for his deep passion of dressing in drag/being with guys by joining the army and being a complete narcissistic asshole to everyone for almost two decades. Now, he has a full blown problem with alcohol and is married with 4 kids. The wife leaves for business and he gets drunk, ends up dressing in lingerie and going to gay clubs around his house. The poor guy can't seem to find peace and has a lot of mental issues working against him and his happiness.
I always say if a zombie apocalypse happened and The Walking Dead scenario came into play, I would want the ones who are "outcasts" in society, the ones deemed not "normal" on my side. It's the "normal" people who live by the rules and claim they are emotionally and mentally stable that end up becoming the Negan's when those rules no longer apply!!
