I keep my door locked all the time. (but I am in an apartment, if I was in a home I might keep the back door open while I was home)
I have spoken to people in other parts of the country who say they leave their doors unlocked when they go to work, and some never lock their doors, even at night.

It seems odd to me especially with all the home invasions and killings going on.

If you feel this is a dumb question plese do not reply.

I could, but I won't out of respect to their surviving loved ones. Their houses are easy to find just look for the yellow police tape surrounding them.

Funny you should ask this, as we were just discussing it. I have lived in a very safe area of adjoining towns for most of my life. In one town, our neighbor NEVER locked her doors. We did at night because my parents are paranoid.

Well, we just move to a very romote area (farm country) where there is absolutely no one around and no need to lock your doors. So we thought. Yesterday, as a matter of fact, we had some service men sent over to repair a utility problem. The guys were sent from an adjoining State (gotta love the way companies work these days) and were subcontracted. Though the guys were nice enough, they took the deliberate time to eyeball everything in the house; and I mean EVERYTHING. They also made attempts to check every door and every window. It was the first time I haven't felt comfortable with service people in my home. I'm quite intuitive, so I am going with my senses here. I followed them where ever they went in the house. Today, my mother expressed the same feeling, as well as my step-father.

    We're locking our doors.

Oh you just exposed yourself as a Brit. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

I hate to correct you, but names should always be capitalized.

Yes, and I always have. Even during the day when I am at home. Because of my work I am fully aware of what people can do to each other, so I am kind of a chicken. I also have an alarm system, a shotgun by my bed and a browning in my kitchen.

I haven't looked my doors here for a long time.. 7 years I guess. I think the only time they've been locked was to make sure I had the keys!
