When my wife passed, my sons gave me a basset hound, be damned if that sucker isn't the '4th kid' now.... love that gas passing, howling, slobbering, snuffling, shedding, bag of ears (and those are his good points!)

I don't currently have a dog, but I loved the wire haired terrier I had as a youngster. Dogs give unconditional love and are wonderful companions.

Also: it kills me that pitbulls have that awful reputation.... I'll defend them to the death.

One of my dogs is a pit. He's really just a big baby that can sound scary. He whines if I don't let him on my bed. (He's a bed hog). He's always up against me when I wake up though. It really is sad when people think they are bad dogs.

pitbulls get that bad reputation because of bad owners who use them rather than loving them,

I haven't had a dog in a while, since my last pitt died a few years ago, I'm kinda thinking about getting another one, but idk with certain recent developments if I'm going to have the time/energy to love/take care of him/her properly.

Just want to hear from other dog lovers, that they feel like me, that dogs are truly man's best friend.

(I know, I'm a cat, but I believe in the unity of all things, living and not.)

Chester my Pomeranian is adored by everybody. He even plays well with Sherlock and Clayton, my cats.:smile:.

This really made me laugh out loud so I'm practically crying as I write this. I find it very amusing because I have a saint bernard and she passes gas and it will run you out of the room, she leaves slobber marks on my pants as I walk out of the door, she barks and scares me at night with her constant freakage over the smallest sounds and she dreams and kicks with her feet and rocks the bed like an earthquake. She knocked the folding doors to the closet off of the runners one night during a kick fest. Scared me!

Lately she has gotten in the bad habit of standing up when I'm trying to step over her. I love her but if I were a little old lady I would have multiple hip fractures by now from falling over her. The only being in the world I love more than her is my Father, but she's right there. I would drag them both out of a burning building:tongue:

YES! They are my children. I hate to say, but I value them above many humans. I will always try to save the animals. Dogs were not a matter of natural evolution, we created them and they are our responsibility to care for!

Just gave up two weekend visiting the daughter because, my aging dog Goldy (13) had problems the last time we left him with a sitter. He is my best friend and needs the extra attention right now.

aww, what a sweet doggie! I understand with the seniors, they rule the house! One of my babies is getting old and she is a spoiled princess for it!
