In Jan 2010 I was unemployed with $185k of debt. Now I have a job that paid $60k and only $175k of debt. Lots of people are worse off financially, but I guess I can't complain.

I still hate my life. I have no friends or family. Everyday I have the same routine and am basicallu just waiting to die.

Considering the many years from age 1 until about 17 when everyone tried to make me hate myself, I have to say I can't imagine any other way to spend the day than alive. I fucking love my life and have no patience for those who opine that they are depressed or disenchanted with the way things are. Unless you're a helpless cripple, you've got the means to change and improve your circumstances to love being alive.

If you really want to feel good, make an effort to help others improve their lives. The Squeeze is a social worker who specializes in helping mentally handicapped, blind, and people otherwise incapacitated to acquire the skills to work and support themselves. Even better, if you don't have a job and are suffering from the economic depression, you've plenty of time to devote to helping others.

I've met so many people who are actively involved with helping others with mucho less assets than me AND working full time that I have no room to sit back and complain. And whenever I start to complain or get too grumpy, I've got The Squeeze to slap me back to reality. Ain't got time for any basking in ennui.

2010 was one long "learning opportunity" for me; I expect much the same for 2011. As I am not opposed to growth, I have nothing to fear by any further exercises in education. And I cannot regret the choices made last year as they seemed not only the best possible but occasionally even prudent and sage, regardless of their actual outcome(s).

Long view: I'd give my current existence about a B-. I've been in much more dire straits and been much more comfortable. 90% of my consternations are temporary and will be resolved by March. The other 10% is just what I live with regardless of transient circumstance.

Ummm...well I love that I am alive and healthy and that the people I care about are healthy. Life is only difficult because of the major changes I've made and more changes to come in the next few years. I will be happy when I'm truly "settled" I guess. I can't say that I love it right now though. I have to wade through some crap before life will really get good. But overall things could always be worse.
