Based on the best-selling novel by Casey McQuiston. It's getting rave reviews and is currently streaming on Amazon Prime. Finally, a gay film that isn't sad or depressing. I plan on watching it today. From what I've seen, it looks amazing and their chemistry is undeniable.

Some of the reviews:

‘Red, White & Royal Blue’ Becomes Prime Video’s No. 1 Movie Globally In Premiere Weekend

The romantic comedy, which is an adaptation of Casey McQuiston’s bestselling novel, launched on Prime Video on August 11 and has now become the No. 1 movie globally on Prime Video in its premiere weekend.

It is also now among Prime Video’s top three most-watched romantic comedies of all time, according to Amazon, which wouldn’t disclose the two other films Red, White & Royal Blue would be joining in the top three.

'Red, White & Royal Blue' Is No. 1 Worldwide on Prime Video, Sparks 'Huge Surge' of New Subscribers

Red, White & Royal Blue is making a splash.

Prime Video said Wednesday that the new movie was its top film around the world over its debut weekend. The streamer also reported the film has already entered its "top three most-watched romantic comedies (movies) of all time" in a matter of days.
Red, White & Royal Blue is based on author McQuiston's 2019 novel of the same name; Prime Video reported that the novel rose to No. 14 on Amazon's bestsellers list in the week after the movie released on its streaming service.

It was great fun. I'm glad we're getting a range of m/m romcoms to choose from.
It's straighter than Bros and Fire Island.
But more mature than the recent crop of queer Christmas romcoms. (Holiday Sitter, Single All the Way, A Christmas to Treasure, The Christmas SetUp, etc.)
I enjoyed 2020's The Thing About Harry but Royal Blue's couple seems healthier. The enemies part of enemies to lovers lasted a bit too long in Harry.

I don't need a sequel. I've gotten all I need from these characters. But I'd watch Galitizne and Perez in a different romcom. Pick another recent novel. Or put them in a queer remake of something retro like How to Marry a Millionaire or Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. (It would never happen, I know, but someone should try.)

I watched it. Moderately enjoyed it. Seemed like a typical cookie-cutter romance flick, just with gay leads.

The one thing I couldn't get over was the use of e-mail by people who should be better trained in privacy.

It's an amalgamation of things that happened in recent years so very relatable indeed. I loved how the conversations were more detailed. I watched it the first time 2 days ago & have rewatched almost 10 times. Damn! The chemistry between Henry & Alex are just off the charts! LOVE!

I watched it. Didn't like it. Seems to be like a gay comedy but for straight audience. The 2 guys are very hot but no chemistry between them at all. It was rated 16+ where i am from but i have seen more passionate and explicit sex scenes on tv soap operas for all ages. For a gay film the only bit of male nudity was a butt played for 'comedy' reasons, which again makes me feel this film isn't for a gay audience. The conversations between the 2 guys is so unrealistic. In their first anal encounter (because we are led to believe in this movie, 1st and 2nd dates are for one guy giving the other a blowjob and the second the other guy reciprocating) one asks who is going to top or bottom? Are you kidding me, thats how the conversation went. The prince replies 'don't worry I'll take good care of you i went to an all boys school' cringe really. Plus that sounds like something a top would say before we know it the prince who is gonna take good care of him is spread eagle on the bed wsnting his dick lmao.

Its 2023 we still get lesbian films like blue is the warmest colour winning awards for 10 minutes of straight guy fantasy porn but in a romatic comedy for gay guys they still dont kiss with tongue or have a passionate sex scene. Its disappointing.

Watched it twice. The R rating is excessive in States. I mean if they’d filmed it as the novel it would deserve it, the book being very explicit at times. But they weren’t making a porno.
The comments about chemistry between the two leads I find hard to understand. I thought they had incredible chemistry. As for emails. Both a White House and the royal palaces and head of state homes all have incredibly secure private accounts that are virtually impossible to hack, and any intrusion punishable severely. The affair in RWARB was discovered by a set up and photographer with long lens cameras and the emails published by an insider working for apolitical opponent
I think the huge audience the film has got and the publicity surrounding it can only be good for the LGBT cause.

I don't think its good for the lgtb cause. Lesbianism and female bisexualism is over saturated in every form of media we see. Even movies where woman have been bi or even lesbian aren't classed as lgbt movies because they appeal to straight men.
It might me slightly good for the gay and bisexual cause because heteros will get on with the comedy and silliness of it all.

Also i am curious i am one of the few people who said i felt like there was no chemistry between the actors, people who disagree can you please give me examples of where they showed good chemistry? The start to an implied blowjob doesn't mean good chemistry to me. So can you please give me examples and I'll rewatch it to see if i feel like its all genuine?

Many thanks

Re chemistry. I like how they play their first two kisses. Galatzine is doing most of the work but Perez sells the surprise in their New Years meeting, followed by aggressive hunger in the red room reunion. The "this is what we're going to do" conversation really landed for me.

Things fell apart in the second half when Perez had to make sweeping declarations of love. But that sexual energy in the early scenes came through strong.

Some of it isn’t thought out to well. Example Alex flies across the Atlantic, forces his way into see Henry , they argue,Alex tells Henry he has to tell him to leave, Henry in deep distress and tears, decides to take respond by taking Alex to a museum? What? Most important moment in their relationship let’s go look at statues? What?

Did you listen to the part right before they danced? Henry told him why he wanted to take him there.

I never even heard of the book before watching, and I loved the film. It’s a very inoffensive, predictable rom-com featuring two attractive male leads. If a sequel happens, I’m here for it.

Watching something like Bros was a chore to get through.
Bros was horrible except when Luke McFarland took his shirt off

I don't quite understand this part either.

Please do correct me if I'm wrong. But I think it's because Henry has always been in love with Alex. His situation(being royal) is what making it difficult to take the next step. Deep down, he doesn't want Alex out of his life... Going to the museum is his way of saying, yes, I want this too. That's why he said, "Please be patient with me and I'll try to be brave for us."

It's a bit different in the book. The book version makes sense a little bit. I think.

First of all their chemistry is the "periodic table " so you're dead wrong about that . Second of all it's not a porn. It's acting, they're not actually in a relationship . They don't have to use tongue . Sounds like you're looking for only fans and can't appreciate a little romance .

Lmao their chemistry is 'periodic table' but they never kiss passionately with tongue. Ok then. Just because someone has their shirt off, or a cake falls on them or a blowjob scene is suggested does not equate to chemistry. I watched it again and i feel no chemistry at all between the 2 leads. Its so stiff and none of it seems just natural. Even the first kiss i was totally caught off guard because i was like wtf that came out of absolutely nowhere. At first i thought both the actors were straight because of the lack of chemistry.
My comment about the sex and 16+ rating was more a reflection of society still shying away from gay love stories and not me wanting 'onlyfans'.
Also you say I'm 'dead wrong', I'm sorry mate its my opinion just like your opinion. You felt there was chemistry, i didn't. Neither is right or wrong.

It's not real life .
Did I say it was? Still it's supposed to craft a believable story.

Listen, it's great that you enjoyed it apparently, but that doesn't deny other's the right to their own opinion without you hopping to the defense of a what must be a seminal work of art to you.

Back to the point, it is beyond ridiculous in the modern age that two people raised in the modern high-tech era would be so ill-advised as to not know how to secure their communications. Suspension of disbelief can only go so far and that was too much for me.
