i speak english fluent some german and italian, and swedish as a native language. and norwegian and danish i can understand but not talk fluent in.

I speak several languages fluently, if this counts.

If that doesn't count, then I can spit out a few French phrases...enough to order some crepes for lunch. A bit less than that for German, Spanish, Greek, and Italian.

I can only speak English, although I studied South Asian linguistics to Phd level and lived for a long time various places abroad. The words get all snarled up on the way out of my mouth so I understand what people are saying, and can read a dozen languages and several alphabets, but what I say is hash.

I suppose if I lived someplace where English wasn't spoken, that language would eventually win.

My native tongue is both Afrikaans and English. I can read and understand Flemish and Dutch reasonably and a very little German. Would like to learn them better. I would also love to learn French, Italian and Russian.

Nearly all of the above for me. Passable in everything except spanish and nordic. Mind you, the only arabic I know is 'no', 'fuck off' and 'son of a bitch'
