I've seen a lot of gays lately use zodiac signs and horoscopes to judge people and I think that's very toxic tbh. I think astrology can be fun in casual conversation but I don't understand why anyone uses it to assume people's personalities.

It's possible that the alignment of the stars energetically influences creatures on earth, but no, I don't see any sort of compelling reason to believe it's true. Astrology is an occasional source of entertainment for me, not something that at all determines how I view myself or others. I doubt most of the men you've observed using astrology to belittle others even have the metaphysical groundwork that would be necessary to make any sense of it. More likely they just latch onto it for the sake of being judgmental.

hahahaha, one eleventh of me takes it serious and digs into it. i'm a "taurus" and crazy about a "gemini" guy still. we're both born in May too. so it's been fun to see and analyze it.

And like other's said...the red flags..notice them, and never take your eyes off of them till things get better or genuinely change

they are generally fun and in newspapers, mags and online are usually so general they could apply to literally anyone. I see them in the same light as things like Myers Briggs in that when done properly they can give some indications about yourself and pointers in life BUT as with all things at best they are indicators only and based on stereotypes and populations on the whole not on an individual.

I prefer to look at the individual behind these things and make any decisions based on those real life human interactions :)

I practice Vedic and traditional Western astrology (using the sidereal zodiac, which typically goes back a sign), and yes, I take them seriously. We don't use the sun sign (the sign typically most people are familiar with), instead using the moon sign (and its corresponding lunar mansion) and/or the ascendant sign.

I, personally, don't care if other people believe it or not because I have the evidence it does right in front of me. I started taking astrology seriously after recognizing patterns in behavior and causality.

I take it seriously enough. I practice Western and have begun learning Vedic astrology. But I wouldn't say I judge people based specifically and only on it. I may see a casual relationship between say a person who is gossipy and his/her Gemini in Mercury, but I am not going to be like oh, you have Gemini in Mercury, you must be gossipy. Instead, after a few times of me knowing that you are gossipying, I will probably be like that's probably your Gemini in Mercury, or at the very least denote it for myself. That may be splitting hairs for some, but the difference lies in that I am not assuming something to be true and then making a judgment, I'm instead observing the actions a person is doing and relating it to information I know.

These are very solid answers so far. Nice to know that there are gays who don't take astrology to toxic extremes.
I'm honestly curious about the people who are around you that have given you this impression.

No one I know even cares about astrology, let alone using it as a basis to discriminate against others. I find that people that do discriminate, will use anything. So, if it isn't one thing, it will be another.

And I just don't have time for that. There are so many real things happening right now, and in general, that I don't get mired in pettiness.

Good point, most of the gays around me irl are just fine, I mostly see that kind of nonsense on the internet. lol

God no - and if I meet someone who does take it seriously it's a huge red flag that they are more interested in anecdotal reasoning than anything remotely evidence based - and this is a thought process that shoots up all sorts of issues I'd rather just not deal with.

Short answer: it's all a load of bollocks!

Honestly, I think it's embarrassing when people take zodiac signs seriously. Your personality is based on a combination of genetics and environment, not being a "cancer" or a "pisces" or a "capricorn". The language in horoscopes is always vague and broad to fit as many people as possible. "You'll meet someone new in your life" (how many people doesn't that apply to???!!!), "you'll face challenges this year" (again, how many people doesn't that apply to).

Your tone seemed a bit too harsh and highly judgemental, abusive even! We need to accept not everyone thinks the same. There are plenty of things in the universe that we and the scientist have yet to discover and fully comprehend. And horoscope is one of those things. The positions of the stars and the year + month we born in hugely influenced and shaped our personality and character. They defined our destiny! I’m an empath and I can sense that you have quite a lot of toxicity pent up in your soul and need a deep cleanse.

Horoscope reveals and tells us more about a person than you think. It dictates their personality, character and whether we’ll be compatible with each other right out of the bat before even meeting up or talking to potential dates. I for one will not date or see anyone with a star sign that doesn’t aligns with me. Science don’t know shit. Horoscope has been around for thousands of years. It’s based on facts and passed down from generations. It has been tested and proven to be true and accurate.

If my bf/husband/partner believes in horoscope, i’ll be so happy because I’ll drop kick the hoe and show him the door. That son of a bitch can go fish for other deluded hoe like himself. I just can’t take a full grown man seriously if he believes in those mindless crap. I do not want to invest my future with someone who makes their decision based on a bunch of mumbo jumbo BULLSHIT from the stone-age. If you’re feeling attacked, you need to pull your head out from your own hole and keep up with the modern age because the medieval age is OVER! Most twats that believe in horoscope have tendencies to be anti-vax, anti-science, essential oil puffer.

I do and I don't - I'm a Gemini :p

I feel like some descriptions about Gemini suit me but I don't even bother looking up anything about a prospective date like what their sign is. I don't buy into it that much.

As many have said here, I enjoy them to break the ice or just casually say "oh I'm a capricorn so I guess I can be clumsy haha", but when people start taking it very seriously, red flags galore.
Seriously, my own mum payed for a so-called "astral letter" as a gift last year, and it was basically a bunch of BS and general guesses about me.
